anyone else remember 8v8? ya there were still stomps but player skill actually counted. that assault on your team that dropped 3 red doritos really flipped the match in your favor.
12v12 will never feel right because once one side is down 2-3 mechs thats game.
CW has the exact same problem times 4 where after one side loses their first 12 mechs thats game. gg close.

I have much more fun playing this game solo. I have a small group of friends who casually play and it is torture to play together. We usually just get frustrated. I will not stick with a game long when it makes it so hard to play with friends, CASUALLY.
There is not much out to play now but the next big thing and i am sure we will all be off this game unless they make the small casual grouping better.

We have a lot of fun in both the wins and losses whether we are a partial group or full group, playing everything from Locusts and Urbies to Awesomes and Banshees. Maybe it just takes finding the right group of people in this game like I stumbled upon that are both good players and adults with lives so we actually have things to talk about that aren't mechwarrior which makes the little waits and in-game banter pretty interesting.
My personal advice is that if you like these friends you are playing with and like the game - just keep right on dropping together. Learn how to play as a team in a more casual manner (i.e. no stress about losing, just trying to do things better) and ultimately have fun with it.
And lastly - the more people that aren't scared to group drop, the more the group queue balances out. So when you are tired of playing with pugs that have no concept of teamwork start grouping up and making the game more fun for you and at least one other person out there.

I have over 40 inactive friends on my list. They stopped playing because of how brutal the group queue is.
The other reasons were the 1:1 Win loss that the solo MM keeps you at, ensuring that for every good run u have you must have a bad run.
Then the economy. (But that's a different thread topic).
The game is very unfriendly.
Even I who have purchase every top tier pack, hero and singles packages. (Except founder top tier). can't justify spending more money as the game as cool as it is, just is too frustrating.
Why have I stopped. Being able to judge if you are going to win or loose in the drop prep screen is a bad thing. 9 out of 10 times i can usually predict the outcome. Already knowing that your in for a loss before even touching the ground is very bad!

This is why I'm now solo / not playing.
Your right but leave the players on the forums out of this. This discussion wont be beat down openly on the forums. But in game..... or on team speaks... the tune is different.

This should be a major concern for PGI.
Why?
Because if a new player joins up it is likely going to be from a friend bringing him in and showing him the ropes. But if you continually punish 2-mans by pitting them up against 8 or even 10-man teams resulting in one crushing loss after another then chances are that new player will get disheartened very quickly and poof, another potentially paying customer is out the door before they had a chance to open their wallets.
Yep - this is it in a nutshell. I have to completely agree with the original post. I also think that TOPGUN hit it on the head. People quit over there being more wrong than right. I have played for some time and I have a number of mechs, however it got to the point where I was going to have to spend real money to get more bays (OK - that's fair since the game is FTP at its overall core). However, that caused me to objectively weigh my experience and concluded that I there was a deficit of good reasons to play compared to reasons not to. So while it is fun to win it is less likely to do so either alone or in a small group than it should be. With the number of alternative games that exist there simply is no reason to play this game.
This is not a flame to the fantastic visual experience I have witnessed while playing the game, rather it is a vote of no confidence in the chance to "have fun". I felt that the good people maintaining this product deserved my opinion as I left, if there should be any hope of addressing the problem for future players.
A part of me wants to reload the game in a couple of years and see if they have fixed it, but if they have not I doubt there will be that opportunity.
