T-bolt 9S is a powerhouse. It went from being kind of a meh-tastic run-of-the-mill but very underrated sniper pre-quirks to being god-tier PPC deathbringer mark six-hundred sixty-six. In fact, I only changed it to a sniper build after I got frustrated with the brawler one (MPLs and any number of ballistics; I never quite found one I felt good with) I was running at the time, which was something like 2-3 weeks before the quirkening.

Also, the ERPPC build that I and many others now use uses the same shoulder to fire from as your hunchback. In fact, it's kind of like the energy model your hunchback except probably faster, better at long range, and more durable, but with fewer mounts, not that that seems to hinder it much at point-blank range like you would think it would. So, you know, if you liked the Hunchie...

However, I would say that it's probably best to stick to a few of the proven chassis and builds to start out. You want to ensure you have a few competent and reliable mechs in the stable before you go looking to find a hidden gem amongst the "DOA" mechs.

Some truth to this; it doesn't hurt to look at the current meta and understand why it works before trying off-the-wall crazy stuff. Just remember, that free mech you got way back in the day that you don't really like or respect can abruptly turn into a not-so-hidden gem when PGI changes something about the game. It's kind of a living environment, not a static one where one thing will be the best forever. So, you know, think before you sell stuff.

1: That is not the K-2

That is the K2. What other catapults have direct fire hardpoints in the arms?

Even if it wasn't, the torso harpoints are in the same places on all of them anyway.

2: That shows absolutely nothing about the hitboxes

I was not discussing hitboxes. I was discussing hardpoint placement.

THIS.

And the reverse can happen as well. I used to kick *** with the Heavy Metal Highlander...then they changed how Gauss works. It became useless to me overnight. (not arguing whether or not the Gauss changes were fair or whatever, just stating a fact...It completely ruined the mech for me).

When I responded it was showing the founders Catapult
As you did not edit the post - I will assume it was a glitch and I apologize for that

As for that - the only difference between the Catapult bodies (sans-(F)) is the hardpoints.

The cockpit is mounted lower on the K2...

Try again - you are contradicting yourself intensively there

There is no contradicting. You are not understanding my argument. The hardpoint PLACEMENT is the same. The energy/bullets are coming from the same points on all of them on the torso.

I was editing the post when you responded to correct the picture. But as I said, it does not matter in this context. The energy beams and/or bullets come out of the same parts of the torso on all the variants. And those points are very close to the cockpit. You can argue if you want, but I've played them all long enough to master them. You're not going to convince me that what I am actually seeing is wrong.

There is no contradicting.

1) You say the cockpits are in different places

2) You say you were only discussing hardpoints - not the cockpit

3) You say the hardpoints are in the same places

4) you say the hardpoints are in different places

HOW is that not contradicting?

So Thunderbolts are a personal favorite, and I'm sure a lot of people have mentioned that. I personally have enjoyed the love they were given, but they are NOT the be all end all of heavy mechs.

Orions are almost assault mechs, though the low slung arm weapons make it difficult to "snipe" with, it does fine in CW as a weight filler.
Dragons are close to mediums, though far less mobile than what you are used to. They are on sale right no which makes them worth it to try if you have the mechbays. Their CT is huge, which is offputting at first, but they have a role to play.

If you really like missile boats, the catapult is always fun to try. Personally, I find trebs and hunchies to make for better missile platforms, but there is something to be said for a bit more armor.

Really a lot of this comes down to playstyle. Peekaboo? Go ahead and get the tbolts. Missile mech, try caty but you probably already found your sweet spot with the hunchie with lrm10. Brawl, Orion and Dragon both are fun to try. Jaeger variants have a bit of everything, but aren't seeing the quirk love atm to make them as competitive as others.

In the end, watch a few videos on youtube and check out some smurfy builds before you make a decision. Its a lot of cbills to lay down usually(dragons are on sale right now!!!!) for a mech you might hate, especially if you are used to mediums with their superior speed. Good luck.

So you ignored this: "(I meant relative to other mechs, not other Catapults)". Ok. I guess I can't force you to read my responses. But this is your answer.

You misunderstood my argument. I tried to clarify it just now. Explain to me how the hardpoint locations are different on the torsos of the catapults in your opinion.

There are no contradictions. You misunderstood my argument.
