there have been allot of talk on the forums about Merc-Groups recently,
and many players would like to create a merc-unit and fly their own banner,
many others would like to Clan factions that have yet to be added to the game,


as it is right now you can ally your self with one of the 6 Great-Houses of the InnerShpere,
or you can ally your self with one of the 4 Powerful-Invading-Clans of the Clans,

when entering CW you have to choose and form a contract with a faction for a set amount of time,
7Day(no bonus), 14Day(15% bonus), 28Day(30% bonus), Permanent(50% bonus),

the bonus is to the amount loyalty points you get per-match for that faction,
progressing in the ranks of a factions a player could unlock various rewards,
these rewards have been implemented into CW, and more are coming soon,
they include Faction-Colors & Patterns, MechBays, Cockpit-Items, & MC,
you also get 50,000 C-Bills for Winning a CW match for your Faction,
(the 50,000 C-Bill Bonus changes with how you faction is doing)



=Solution to Adding Merc-Groups & Loyalist-Factions=
First when selecting a player is banner for a CW faction,
Add 2 new Banners, between InnerShpere and Clan,

1)Merc=
selecting Merc will lead you to another screen,
here you will select one emblems from a list of Merc emblems,
as well as the color of the emblems flag in the background,

2)Loyalist=
selecting Loyalist will lead you to another screen,
here you will select one emblems from a list of yet to be added Clan Factions,
Loyalist Clans could include- Clan NovaCat, StarAdder, DiamondShark, ect.


after you have selected your Merc or Loyalist Faction,
you belong to that Merc-Unit or Loyalist faction permanently,
or until you break your contract, 2,000,000 C-Bill cost,

now you can select a Faction as you would normally,
however, their are some changes that you will see,

1)Merc=
If you chose Merc-Unit only the InnerShere Banners will now display,
so you will be limited to choosing only InnerShpere Contracts,
also the Merc and Loyalist banners also on longer visible,

2)Loyalist=
If you chose Loyalist faction only Clan Banners will now display,
so you will be limited to choosing only Invading-Clan Contracts,
also the Merc and Loyalist banners also on longer visible,

however choosing a contract at this point will not change your display picture,
as you will now always be shown as a Merc or Loyalist, or until you break your Contract,
you will also not gain any Loyalty Points for fighting for a particular House or Clan,
you will also not get the 50,000 C-Bill Bonus from a CW win you would normally

instead Pilots will get a bonus to the amount of C-Bills they earn In a CW Match,
this C-Bill Bonus is based upon how long their contract is for that House or Clan Faction
7Day(10%), 14Day(25% bonus), 28Day(55% bonus),

if a Merc-Group or Loyalist-Faction Unit takes a planet,
the planets control goes to the faction you are contracted out to,
remember Merc-Group or Loyalist-Faction are fighting for others,


Also institute new Penalties for leaving a faction and breaking contracts,
in leaving a faction and choosing another you lose 25% of your total Loyalty to that faction,
also in breaking any contract you lose all bonuses and 50% of your total loyalty for that Faction,
making Leaving a faction before your time less desirable for those who want to earn loyalty,

Now also display in game, how long each player is Contracted for, for that faction,
for Example, in game you look to a persons name, and next to it you see, a number,
this number will be (7)-(14)-(28)-(Perm), allowing people to see what their contract is,
so players can distinguish Units that are activly Aiding their Factions,

this would also help identify units causing trouble, and trying to go Rouge,
if a unit go stats attacking Allies and you see a (7) you know its a unit going Rogue,


now implementing a system like this i feel will help for several reasons,
1) it will allow Merc-units to have a place and feel like the Mercs they want to be,
2) it will allow Loyalist-Faction to be added and have a place adding more to CW/MWO,
3) it will allow Mercs & Loyalists to fight without taking players away form the 10primary Factions,
4) it will help Faction choices start meaning more to players who want to be in those Factions,


Would you like to see something like this implemented in CW,
and Would you support this Change and Addition to the CW?

clan loyalists should be allowed to attack IS planets and also defend clanplanets vs IS planets, but they should not be involved in interclan conflicts. (or if then only for defending planets and not attacking)

tbh the contact lenghts need to be reworked, only units havign a 6 month or permanent contract should be labeled with the clan they are contracted, all others would only be clan loyaists.

I already suggested a system it was shot down.

I suggested making homeworlds capturable. if a homeworld was captured a new one would be selected via vote. if a faction ran out of planets the members had 3 choices. Join another faction (Is players could join any IS faction), join the faction that took over (if clan wolf captured all of davion for example then davion members could join clan wolf, or go merc/loyalist.

mercs and loyalists could attack IS or Clan planets depending on their faction. Mercs could attack and defend clan planets, and loyalists vise versa.

well my system really doesnt have much to do with ether,
its more of a system of how Mercs and other factions can be added,
with out taking the population away form the other 6Houses/4Clans,

Implement this - Merc Rating, contracts (pay, salvage) - another way to look at Mercs is corps in Eve. Got a new recruit stuck in trials but he's made member status, buy him a mech with the money the unit earned and so on. Need an XL300, let's check with the quartermaster.

just rewrote the concept for clarity,

if you are a Merc-Unit would this System be right for you?
what are your thoughts and what do you think i should change?

i agree i had an idea for that mercs wold get C-bill rewards for longer Faction Contracts,
but no loyalty rewards or points, bonuses gained from planets(when we get them),

I have a better solution for this without PGI needing to spent more time programing the game.

7 to 28 days = More to less money to suply the lack of loyality points.
Loyalist = Less money to suply the quantity of LP.

I can go even further on this.

Loyalist = Level rank and win the faction stuff.
Merc = No level rank and no faction stuff but another kind of win stuffs.

Lets just say the mercs would win more exp for their mechs or exclusive merc gifts instead the faction ones.

I think opening the defense of all Inner Sphere planets to unaffiliated mercenary units would provide mercenary units with more opportunities to play community warfare, and provide PGI with a way to ensure fewer drops go unmatched, resulting in fewer ghost drops and shorter wait times.

I'm hoping Phase 3, which promises to give loyalists more control over attack vectors, will enable the inclusion of unaffiliated mercenaries in Faction Play/Community Warfare. Mercenaries will go wherever the money is, so enabling them to get a match instantly would improve this mode significantly.
