They can't even think about new players before implementing a complete (i mean COMPLETE) tutorial covering:

- Basic piloting course: movement - slope threshold for hill climb - JJ and fall damage - speed reductions when legged

- weapons course: different weapon mechanics - min/max range - missile lock - guass charge - bullet drop - heat - etc...

- advanced tactical course: ECM - BAP - UAVs - Arty/Air - Radar locks/breaks - enemy paper doll - etc...

because it takes a genius to move a mouse and press forward back left and right like in any other FPS EVER SINCE THE BEGINNING OF TIME! Look we got it Its hard for old people to key bind and learn, young people get it! Tutorials are not the issue, a game aiming for them and die rolls in a FPS is the issue!


A lack of a tutorial has nothing to do with getting new people! Its slow old people who QQ PGI into aiming for them is what pushes new players away! Any FPS after 2k you can run one way while aiming another! Its not rocket science! Jumping COD is learned just like "fall damage" in MWO JFC WOW even has fall damege!... STOP TRYING TO ACT LIKE JUST BECAUSE ITS MECHS THE PRINCIPLES OF A FPS ARE SO ABSTRACT PEOPLE CAN GET MWO!

Sadly this game will never reach its full potential. Botching a release as hard as this game did has permanent consequences.

All the winback campaigns and new player incentives in the world won't mitigate the ongoing damage. I'm sure some of the folks on this forum have seen what retention numbers are like for new players in other online games, and how low the conversion rate is for returning players in most cases.

In its current state I don't think the game will go over well on Steam. It's a game for a niche IP that has been poorly handled and it would be a miracle if it actually picked up speed rather than just slowing its descent at this point.

Maybe the name is memorable. I think a premie team should pick him up and recruit him.

I saw you Yesterday in a pug game.
We nearly downed the Omega. 6% left.
We had been 3 Player less due to 2 Disco and you. You just stood there doing nothing but telling everybody your KD is 5.3.
All of your 4 mechs were destroyed where they droped. Dealing no kills and nearly 0 dmg. You did no Support to the Team.
I don t want to know how many Player you frustrated.

When I Play with a 12men premade..it is mostly a stomp. In pug games when we meet a premade..I get mostly stomped.
But there had been funny Drops also in pug games. Sometimes we win also an attack as pug. But not with Players like you.

I agree. CW is missing Players. But not Players who just f up their own Team.

I will not miss you.

I assume you did not have the privilege of teaching people: lrm min range / ppc min range / ability of doing damage outside of the nominal range / gauss charge.... only to find them do everything they are told not to do and not doing anything they are told to do.

or... you may be trolling at the moment.

You are right all of those things need to be covered and more. What I mentioned was a bare minimum offering in order to make the game a little easier to understand. But this game needs a constant influx of new players at all times or it will wither quickly.

Cadet bonuses should be a reward for completing the expanded tutorial you suggest not for jumping headfirst into the fire 25 times as it is now.

When I started playing, even though this wasn't anywhere near my first MW game I was completely overwhelmed. And back then trial mechs were still running stock loadouts with single heatsinks. So needless to say it wasnt the best experience I had ever had. The only reason I stuck with it was because of my love for the IP. If it wasnt for that I would have been long gone. Imagine what it's gonna be like when people start joining in droves that do not have the same attachment as I do to the IP.

MWO is not hard FPS mode, stop acting like it is, heck... PGI even aims 4 you!

Everyone in EVERY FPS who runs in gets smoked! EVERYONE who jumps off of tall stuff takes damage! EVERYONE learns one way or another range (hand guns VS sniper rifles). MWO is not some gold,,, fofo...better then the rest L33T FPS, get over yourself!

Troll harder please. I think you can do better if you really put your mind to it.

Mwo has destructable hardpoints which arent in your L33T MLG Call of Halo IV Hardline FPS games. When I shoot you in the leg on CoD you don't run slower. When I shoot your arm in CoD you dont lose half of your weapons Sure I can headshot you like in CoD but the target is about 1/100th the size of a normal FPS and most of the time moving a lot faster.

As for your arguement that MWO aimd for you I assume you are talking about LRMs. Please do tell me how you would implement an indirect fire weapon that has multiple projectiles?
