When you guys get around to doing the hardpoint art pass on the Awesome, please go the extra distance and just redesign the whole damn mech. Taller and skinnier. That's all I ask.

And please re-do the Pretty Baby's hardpoint layout. It is so, so terrible.

"Make the Awesome not be the Awesome."

It's a short, fat mech, it's always gonna be

Don't think it's such a good idea to put all that effort into one old mech. That would require a completely new model for the whole chassis, effort that could be better used towards a whole new mech.

You don't change its shape. You keep its shape and make the shape an offset for a terrifying trait.

Redesigning the whole mech is basically making a new one from scratch. If that luxury isnt available...

Consider a hitbox pass. Others have suggested having more of the arm extend towards the torso. So when the arms are blown off, part of each side torso take reduced damage, requiring the enemy to have sharper aiming somehow.

At least give the 8R a boob-job and mount those launchers higher. Those sagging breasts make shooting over hills harder. The launchers look ugly as well.

Something along those lines.
Slender, tall, It should look alot more like the Gargoyle IMO.
Why did the MWO Awesome turned out looking like some bulging sumo wrestler with cankles.

The Awesome is the fat drunk of the MWO world. All stumbling around with his beertits flopping over his belly, yelling about the refs in last night's game and randomly firing PPCs into the ceiling. If you want to love the Awesome, you have to accept him for what he is.

I think a lot of players (myself included) sort of imagine that the AWS should look like this because it's an assault mech, while forgetting that it's only 5 tons heavier than the Timber Wolf. It's kind of hard for PGI to get it right. On one hand, we're giving them heat for making medium mechs too big. On the other hand, we like our 80 ton assault mech to look like behemoth. Except for players like OP, who think it needs to be a lot slimmer.

As a huge AWS-fan, I'm kind of terrified of the idea that PGI would redesign it, because I saw what they did to the CPLT. So how do we justify the huge size and low tonnage? I dunno. I guess those double heat sinks take up a lot of space.

I agree about the LRM launchers though. I do hope they use the weapon redesign as a way to slightly buff the AWS, by giving it raised launchers. Then we wouldn't have to show the enemy our saggy bewbs every time we wanted to launch a volley.

The Awesome model isn't changing. It may get additional armor or structure buffs, but it will always be a barn door. Its a building with PPCs. Accept it for what it is :)

The only change i would suggest is putting an extra Structure Slot on Pretty Baby's head, allowing it to mount an extra Large Laser. With those quirks, 3 LL + 2 SRM 4 + 1 SRM 6 would be really AWESOME!

I always wanted something similar for the Locust 1V. Screw the ERLLasrer that draws a blue line right to me. Give me one extra CT crit slot so I can mount an ERPPC. Give it the Thunderbolt 9S type PPC quirks. Now that would be a harasser.

I love the design of the Awesome... I just wish the shoulder hardpoints were situated higher so I could shoot over hills more effectively

Mechs are made of sponges, that's why they can be both massive and fairly lightweight.

Oh good grief... is that official art? Because that looks like some very shoddy photoshop work!

The Awesome still has massive shoulders whether it is new art or old. I still think it would be an easier mech to hit and knock out side torsos regardless.
