Yes... a MOVIE sure looks and does things a game engine can't seem to do on a day to day basis. This is why I don't trust game MOVIES and look for things that say, "Actual gameplay footage." ;)

making an entire new game is risky, needs a lot effort and such.

they could probe the market by reworking a old MW version and see how it sells on steam. then you can get an idea of how much the whole market reacts to another mechgame.

also the above is a trailer, its a way better result as a game will be. especially taken into account how any client should run this smoothly with all the features you see there when more mechs appear.

I still cant help but wonder what that pilot was think at the 1 minute mark... why rush in like that when there were clearly two targets called out?

Also, thats a very ineffective ejection mechanism, if it doesnt even get you far enough from the 'Mech's detonation radius.

I thought this video was done by Smith and Tinker before PGI took control?

Credits at the end cite both Smith and Tinker and Piranha Games. I believe that this was a teaser trailer made when PGI was trying to get money to build Mechwarrior 5 several years before MWO. Also, I was under the impression that the trailer used in game footage from a pre-alpha build of what they were looking at putting together ... but I could be mistaken.

god...with as poorly optimized as PGI's use of cryengine is (and resource hog natured as Cryengine is to begin with) I would really hate to see what happens to average fps with all that particles and stuff.

My Banshee I was leveling the other day denies your claim... then again I had to stop after two alphas, but I could almost squeeze a third even with SHS instead of DHS. LPLs and AC5 quirks for the win!

It was not ingame footage, came out later, was a movie using game assets and the unreal engine.

Sure, if all my opponents agree to use stock IS mechs.

Of course half my weapons will miss the intended section of the enemy mech what with the mix of weaponry, but it would be fun.
