So I am thinking about buying an assault hero or the resistance pack. If I buy a hero, it would be between Dragon Slayer, Misery, or Hellslinger. What are people's experiences with these 3 mechs?

Thanks.

My experience with the Hellslinger is that it is solidly ok. Dragon Slayer is fine if you like Victors, and the Misery's main draw is the combination of the ballistic hardpoint with those tanky Stalker hitboxes.

Dragon Slayer is kinda eh now that the poptart meta is dead as a doornail. Solid, but eh and kinda average. Hellslinger is hilariously stupid and stupidly hilarious with 4 ERLLAS and a metric crapton of DHS. The best option, however, is Misery. AC/20 on a giant death blimp which won't roll over and die and handles like a lighter heavy when double basic'd? Sure sign me up

Well...

You didnt mention the Boars Head.

I own all the Hero assaults, with Misery being my favorite. But Boars Head is a close second.

Not a fan of the Hellsinger, and haven't used the Dragon Slayer in half a year...

In all honesty, the Firebrand is the best 60-100 ton Hero if that sways your opinion...

No experience with any of those, the King Crab from the resistence pack is rock solid for an assault..personally I brought the pack for the Zeus but I'm happy with the Crab while I wait.

I own all mention except the Dragon Slayer and I will tell you flat out that the Hellslinger has a HUGE learning curve and is a completely different play style(at least for me).

You have to limit face time, use hills with high Energy hardpoints, while using the "stick and move" attitude. It is not a front line mech at all.

The Misery is a different story all together. Tanky hit boxes, high mount energy, and a great profile make it wonderful.

The Boars Head is pretty awesome as well, if you enjoy the Atlas group. But is a HUGE target and you will get focused down quickly if you aren't paying attention.

Misery out of all those choices all the way. AC 20 with three LLs or even 4 if you dont use a STD 300 engine

Learning curve, not curb.

Anyway, yeah, if you are used to being all Mister Brawl-Tank with an assault than just about ALL of the BLRs are going to be rough for you. IMX, the BLRs don't really come into their own unless you have double basics unlocked and drop in a 375+ XL engine. Run it like a super-heavy skirmisher and you'll be fine.

Even throwing a 400xl into any of the battlemasters is fun, chasing down slow mediums and heavies going 83.9 kph.

I also have the misery and love it, but you have to run it differently than a hellslinger.

It's not really grammar. It's you straight up getting the expression wrong by substituting out a word used to refer to the shape of a skill/effectiveness graph with a word that means something totally different. It's like all those people that say "could of" or "should of", which makes no damn sense at all (they are actually misinterpreting the pronunciation of the contractions could've and should've). Words have meanings, and if we ignore those meanings or arbitrarily redefine them than language loses its effectiveness as a means to communicate ideas.

I would be willing to bet, any and every person who read what I typed knew exactly what I was saying. So lets do it this way, since you obviously have your 'tough' guy internet shield on.

The quote, and correction was nothing more than an internet display of douche beggary, as is your response attempting to hide that. So thank you for your brilliant string of explanations.

The correction was made for your viewing pleasure, would hate to ignore word meanings on an internet forum....I might get graded.

But hey, I remember when I used to scroll forums, waiting to correct someone to show my intellectual prowess among my internet brethren. Of course, I was in high school and it was Diablo II....but thats ok. I feel your pain bro, nighty night sweetie.

Um, what? Yeah, nothing says "tough guy" like a minor correction because you borked a common phrase. Are you on drugs, son?

Any douche baggery (beggary? really? you can't spell "bag" without f***ing it up?) I may have exhibited at this point is so greatly eclipsed by your own that I could never hope to come out from behind its shadow.

I am so glad you managed to respond before I went to bed,

I am quite dissapointed though :/ Petty typing insults is what you have stooped to and it kinda let me down. I was expecting more based on your attempt at an intellectual response explaining "why" you felt the need to point out corrections.

And the "tough" guy shield is actually a perfect example of how you are attempting to act now. It is quite cute though. Ahhh how I get enjoyment out of children such as yourself.

Remember, I am a westerner, we resort to violence rather than intellectual conversations. So I am truly only doing this for the satisfaction of watching you feel the need to respond and defend yourself.

Please feel free to point out problems in my typing :)

In fact, I hate intellectualism so much that I'll accuse you of being an internet tough guy while implying that I'll beat you up for it, thus showing myself to be an even bigger internet tough guy, thus proving that I have a bigger sexual organ than you do and am much more manly than anyone that dares disagree with me or try to help me NOT look ignorant. Looking like a dipstick is my god given right, and if you continue to speak to me I'll continue to make an ass of myself and throw a hissyfit like a teenager. Further escalation will force me to contact my mommy. Also, my daddy says I'm a great kisser.

Fixed that for ya', sport. ;)

Bahaha I implied I would beat you up for it? That was a good one, guess I need to re read what I wrote. You compare me to a child yet that is what you have to say. I love it. Yet your right, I'm the only one who has made an a** of myself. Logic escapes this one me lord!

This time, you didn't dissapoint. Nighty night, so glad I checked my phone.

I've dealt with enough cowards and common thugs to know a veiled threat when I'm given one.

Sleep well, princess.

A veiled threat? This time you were wrong. So please, don't even attempt at telling me at what I was trying to imply. Want an explanation?

The westerners going to violence was a statement making fun of the ideology that westerners run straight to violence on a whim. Re read it without a chip on your shoulder and you will understand its meaning.

By assuming what have you done? Ever heard this? You've made an a** of you and me.

Of those you listed I would get the Misery.
