Considering Legio Invictus is a W40K Titan legion you might want to reconsider the name.

A good point, Arthwys (cool name btw).

GW properties, including the eagle that I've seen Dober use, should probably be avoided - GW are renowned for exercising their lawyers regularly - particularly if they think their IP is threatened or if they think there's money to be made from it.

Online guilds are usually exempt from this because they're not profiting off the reference to intellectual property. I mean look how many "Jedi" guilds there are across all the various mmo's...

I agree, but Lucasarts are usually less aggressive with their IP protection, AFAIK, than GW is (they've been known to slam sites that used GW minis as a scale comparison for scenery but didn't have proper disclaimers).

With GW, it's usually better to be safe than sorry.

Besides - it kinda ruins immersion to have 40k names running around (says he with a callsign and not a cool name as his tag... :D).

Tbh, I was considering to create Legio Invicta as part of the Cloud Cobras. Just remains to be seen what kind of options we get in the end.
But I like the theme a lot and the 40k legion did very well in the novel I read about it, although they got hammered real hard AFAIK. The bridge aboard the titans has more in common with the Enterprise than a BattleMech cockpit though. Nice blend of styles, awe inspiring technology and scale =)

But we're not Titans.... :D

However I feel it would be beyond badass since the lore and such behind them are so cool they could give the unit some REAL flavor!

Gentlemen, it appears that the legion is in dire need of an inspring Mech to gather around.

I have found 2 possible candidates:

1. Titan II
2. Grand Titan

Feel free to add =)

Well, all the best, just so long as PGI don't get slammed for it.

As for EVE Online, I saw none when I played, but it's been quite a few years now (5, I think, maybe 6) since I played. For all I know, Goons could own Oursulaert for all I know... :D

I'm something of a purist, I'm afraid, so just ignore me... I don't like people claiming existing units of renown in an IP I'm playing in or reading about, but I don't like obviously-other-IP units either (discrete ones I'm not so worried about). At least you chose a more discrete name and one that could be made up anyhow. (If GW complain, you could just call yourself Invictus Legion and leave it at that - it's far enough away).

I'm suddenly glad I didn't see that one.

I've got a merc unit name I'm thinking of using, but I'm a little unsure about getting members of the unit up and whether I can be bothered with running a merc unit or if I should just go through the House unit instead.

GW would have to complain to a lot of legions out there. The unit designation is pretty popular with google. So yeah, I'd prolly shorten it to Invicta to be rather safe than sorry and simply move on.
