I had this thought last night at work...

I think it would be awesome to have a mechlab app for our smart phones! This app would let us customize whatever 'mechs are in the game with whatever weapons and tech is available, and would give you the price of the 'mech, battle value, what it's attack strength is, speed, armor, etc. Players could use this to build their dream machines, and then they would know how much it's going to cost them in game. Then they can save the money for that 'mech and buy it when they have what they need.

So come on devs! You know you want to!

Anybody else think this is a good idea?

Give it a week after launch and I bet there will be mech builder programs online.

There are already programs that let u do that online for the tabletop game, and while an online program would be great i think the moble app would give people something fun to keep them interested in the game even when they cant play the game itself.

would be the Logical Step for the Game, would be cool to mess around with set ups while away and you need something to do

I like the idea, and it would certainly get some people excited for MWO's official launch, but...
if I had to choose between seeing more MWO features at launch or getting a mobile app, I'd take the MWO features.

I test cloud based server software and a prototype mobile app that connects to its API, and there's A LOT that goes into launching a mobile app and exposing an application/game API to such an app.

I think this is a great idea. Suggested something similar about a month ago.

And if your friends have the app, maybe they could have a share option so you can send variant ideas to your friends/unit-members.

There's a lot that could be done with an app like this, especially if it was tied into the site or even just the forums.

Eh, don't count on it.
Either it'd have to be non-profit (and thus likely fan-made), or it'd have to pass by Microsoft, which makes an iSmeg version unlikely.
