Please post a link or something to show how you found this thanks.
My money is on Gauss..

Do you really need proof?.. I mean PPC is like lightning, how can Gauss be faster?

well one is a slug, the other is a particle cannon...

I guess it depends if we are factoring in quantum mechanics or not.

Without quantum mechanics a Particle cannon would win since the particles could potentially be moving at the speed of light.

With quantum mechanics, particles could just vanish if they decided too...they are annoying little SOBs like that.

Then again with quantum mechanics the particles could go through a worm hole and hit you too..why are particle cannons being used as a weapon again?

The PPC is firing protons (hydrogen ion) or heavier ions at the target. Since those particles have mass, they cannot move at the speed of light. They can move at a fraction of the speed of light (i.e. 99.99999%), but remember that the closer it gets to light speed, the more energy it takes.

Beaming ions at things is something we do today, at much lower energy levels. We even beam electrons, much tinier than protons, at stuff, making pretty pictures in device called a cathode ray tube television. :P

Quantum effects are really not a concern at this macro level.

PPCs: 27800 km/s http://www.quora.com...-speed-of-light

Gauss: 125 km/s -

I'd normally say PPCs are faster, but not in a Mechwarrior. In Mechwarrior 2, the PPC shots were so slow, you could outrun them lol.

Its shooting high energy hydrogen ions...sounds like a good idea to me. Not like hydrogen isn't highly reactive even in its H2 state...

Wouldn't it just be better to shoot neutrons instead, in the form of neutron radiation. Would introduce radiation and energy to any target, is relatively small and could pass completely through a mech and melt the pilot. Easy and the salvage is a fully functional mech.
