the BT universe doesn't really have cloaking (at least not until way later), its does have some radar type stuff like ECM and whatnot

The only people who could confirm this would be 1.) the devs, who probably aren't willing to divulge specifics and 2.) closed beta testers, provided it actually is already in the beta (and I have grounds to believe that it isn't), and even if it was, they aren't allowed to tell you because of the NDA.

I recommend you ask this question again in August, when open beta and founder's access allows a lot of people (including yourself) NDA-free access to the game.

I can only speculate, and in doing so I believe it is the previously announced scout skill/module that will allow you to appear shut down, and thus invisible to radar, for a few seconds.

Stealth armour is the closest thing in the Battletech Wiki. It is only available on a few, mostly scout, mechs and recon planes. It is also expensive and although I don't know this for sure, I expect that it will offer less protection than other forms of armour.

Cloaking is something lost after the star league fell. Exterminator used to have specialized mirror armor to make it hard to see and combined with ecm it carried made it almost invisable. Sadly that technology isn't found again until the late 3060's by House Liao. I do hope that ecm makes targeting with LRMs and spoting a mech thru radar alone much harder then normal.

You may be thinking of the Raven.

http://mwomercs.com/...tlemech-9-raven

It has an advanced ECM system, but we don't know exactly how it will work in the game. But there won't be invisible Mechs running around, if someone can see you you're spotted.

This is evidence of a great effort to encourage a #ProperlyDevelopedSkillSet to balance out #AllAtlasAllTheTime !!!

I think the closest we may see to a cloaking is a radar off option wereyour not actively using radar so it harder to ping you in the game but still at 250 meters your will stick out being like 10-20 feet tall ( forget what meter converts to feet is right this minutes ) lol

At some point mechs had optical camo, especially the command mechs because of the lack of any real weaponry on them for defense. I agree though my old brain is losing track of crap, they did not happen until much later when Innersphere and Clans had recovered much of their technology and industry capabilities that had been decimated by unending massive wars.

Anti-Mech armored infantry battlesuits from the clans had it too..

I would guess Beta 2 would still be NDA covered in some way?

Cloak? No. Something that disrupts targeting? Yes.

You can always shut down, then you are only seen by sight.

Russ spoke about this in the latest interview with PcGamer http://www.pcgamer.c...nlines-new-map/
He talks about shutting down your Mech to avoid radar detection.

Open betas are, by definition, open to anyone. Therefore NDAs are rendered pointless, and are generally not applied.

Beta 2 starts in July, not in August, and is still a closed beta phase.
