Hi MechWarriors

Clasification: 5.9
Intel Core i7 CPU 2.30Ghz
12GB RAM
64Bits, Windows7
Nvidia GTX660 (Notebook)
300gb free space where Windows is installed + The game.
Executing the game under 64bits, administrator, windows desktop visual thingy off
Putting in the properties, shortcut the line: -availablevidmem -32.00 (Helped for gta4)
IG settings: DirectX11, everything low beside Texture to medium, No V-sync, No AA, damageglow: ON
Lowest resolution (1028x720)
TuneUp utilities installed, harddrive only has less than 1year, defragmented, cleaned with CCleaner.

Got 90-70fps when the game begin.
Once in battlefield (On you get to the center ot terraterma, once you get into the hill on alpinepeaks, once you get to the buildings on FrozenCity, etc...)
the fps drop to less than 50-40, even 30.
the problem is when it drop lower than 40fps, the mouse reaction is somehow out of sync, and then it seems like im drunk when i try to aim the lights.
(120 normal pings since i'm in France)

Isn't there a magical thing someone know to have atleast, minimum 45fps?
Or do i have to wait until they update\change their engine?

CPU heavy game, more or less "poorly" optimized....so still open to optimization
plus a really weak notebook-i7, GTX660 should be enough but a mobile variant still won´t have the power of a desktop pc graphics card counterpart.
Are any of the 12GB RAM labeled as "shared memory" ?

either this, or get a better rig, more suitable for gaming

I've noticed there are some definite performance issues lately. I'm trying to figure out what caused the changes, but I suspect it may be DX11.

GTX660 (Notebook)

GeForce GTX 660M score1508
GeForce GTS 450 score 1551 (released 2010.)

Sorry to say notebook videos cards are junk. Your 660m would be 300% faster if it was a 660 desktop.

But seeing you have what you have. Change over to directx9 its faster than directx11. I would look into overclocking your video card. You cpu should be doing ok.

Yeah, I'm running a 7950 boost and I can't stay above 30 fps with max and directx11 at 1080p. Notebook videocards will suffer with this game. My notebook with a dedicated 6750 can barely play it.

He said everything was on low other than textures on medium.Directx9 should give around 10% improvement.  Running in 64bit mode has been reported as giving improvement in speed too.  I didnt see any speed increase with 64bit and it crashed more often. Still worth a shot.

Also, run the repair utility built into the launcher. The top right "gear" symbol should contain it in a dropdown menu.

It has been known to fix bad shaders and corrupt files that lead to bad performance.

Ah, it seems I found a way to miss what he had his settings at. Ooops.

Also, I found that running the client in 64-bit gave the game stability issues as well.

It is
I have an fx8350 and a gtx 970
I run a consistant 50-70 fps with everything I play and this is the only game I still get only 30-40 fps with periodic 15 fps dips
it's the only reason I don't play these days
those periodic dips that ruin everything.

ty all for the answer, just installed PrecisionX with heaven and will test\see if some improvment are done.
will see if i get something from Dx11 to 9.

My power settings is higher than high. These are the 4mode available for me:
Saving energie \ Moderate \ High performance \ Lenovo Graphics dynamic scheme
Last one is selected every time i run MWO.

I feel your pain.

Alienware M15X notebook with an i740
6GB RAM
AMD (ATI at the time) Mobile Radeon 5850HD.

I run the game at 768 res full window and have everything set to low (except high on object detail, and medium on texture).

The game sees 60fps during the countdown screen lol. Game runs at about 40~30 FPS with occasional dips (spikes) into the 20s or rarely teens.

I can go play the Borderlands Prequel or even Farcry 3 on high detail and 1080 res and it runs smooth. Go figure lol.

Anyway, I'll probably be getting a new laptop in the summer. My IT friend was telling me Origin's laptops use a desktop CPU in them instead of a mobile. Origin is a bit of a startup though (guys who founded Alienware) so it might be more than I want to spend too. Hell, might just get an Alienware again, who knows.

allright 90C on the GPU and card.... i guess i need to buy an external Fan. Seems like i cannot control the fan speed from the program PrecisionX
I guess i found my main problem of fps drop.

DirectX11, in my case, give me 10more fps.
Basically means my fps dropped 10frame lower when i switched to Dx9

LameoveR: Nah, the fan bar is grey, unmodifiable.

Forgot to mention, it seems like something isn't implement in my laptop that allow me to modifie the Inside Fan.

I love this game but after 3 years it needs to be optimized

Win 8.1 pro 64-bit, intel i5-2500k 3.30GHZ, 16gb ram. Gforce GTX 760.

No problems in Wot or any other Game B)

AMD FX-6350 x6core running at 4.0 ghz

32GB DDR3 RAM

Nvidia GTX 670 running a core clock of 914MhZ with 2GB ram.

I run the following settings:

64bit client
DX-11
Resolution: 2715 x 1527 supersampled to a 1080p standard.
Motion Blur: off
Vsync:off
Damage Glow: On
Effects: Very High
Object Detail: Very high
Particles: Very high [sometimes I lower this to High]
Post Processing: Low
Shading: Very High
Shadows: Low
Textures: Very High
Environment: Very High.

I average 50fps, with dips down to 30 [in extreme cases down to 20 on older, unoptimized maps]

I do recording as well, and have gotten best results out of NVIDIA's shadow play software.

@OP. This game is INSANELY CPU heavy, like it's absolutely a CPU hog, and a ram hog too. if you have the ability, definitely run the 64bit client. I noticed a marked improvement in overall stability and even a bit of an FPS gain [around 10+ combined with DX11]

Your best bet, really, is to build yourself a custom home rig. with the release of the 900 series of GPU's from Nvidia, and the price drops on a lot of components... frankly building a pretty high end gaming PC is pretty budget friendly right now, RAM will probably be the most pricy bit of the build at the end of the day, but hey, at least you can get a GTX 970 card for under 350.

I've noticed this lately but couldn't place why my mouse often feels terrible. My mouse used to feel perfect. But lately my FPS has been wonky. Mouse feels very different compared to the testing grounds. This might have something to do with it. I'm also getting around 40fps in MWO, dips into the 20's with a lot of mechs and particles on screen. Doesn't matter if I use low or high settings, FPS is the same....which I also can't understand.

Reducing particles to low helps FPS a lot. It gave me a few extra FPS, but also seemed to smooth out the down spikes as well, and that was going from medium particles to low .

I'd recommend everyone turn particles to low and gain dome additional FPS stability. It might not look as pretty, but its worth it for frames (plus mechs like the Shadow Hawk and Pirates Bane can fire ballistics without utterly blinding the pilot).
