I've also called it the Man O' Whale. Seems ironically fitting.

Even the Toygolye's cockpit looks like its 1350 years old. Its got air cans in it, its got a roll cage like what we see on an old dune buggy......then the mech itself is absolutely hideous looking...never could stand it or the Executioner's looks....

exactly. Opportunity cost.

The Must Lynx is terrible, but it brings "high speed"(for our clan options) jump capable ECM, and costs 25 tons. ECM has such value by itself to cover a lot there, and say srm12+erml at least allows a Mist Lynx the ability to burn down generators/kneecap in CW as well as provide ECM support.

The gargoyle costs more than three times as much, and basically brings nothing valuable for that.

Sure, you can build a mediocre wub build with it, but its poor returns for 80 tons.

If it was actually agile, that would help a lot. But as it stands it has nothing going for it.

I personally get more frustrated at the Mist Lynx's uselessness when I use it. I don't have the same going for the Gargoyle despite being nowhere as "useful" as the Mist Lynx.

I can make mediocre suck less. I can't make this terribad (Mist Lynx) less terribad.

Just had a PUG game where someone (not me) got 5 kills, 5 assists, 701 damage in a Gargoyle - best I've seen one do yet. Not sure what the loadout was other than judging by the beams, he had a mix of ERM, ERL, and something pulse (he was alpha striking for the final kill, I didn't have a chance to really check his config).

If you didn't take a picture it didn't happen!

I agree it has a lot of problems. I have found 1 build that works exceptionally well, inspired by my Nova: 6SPL, 1LPL. The LPL is in the CT of course. The 6SPL give you insane brawling potential, especially because you actually have the armor and speed to be effective. I've had a lot of exceptional games with it, and some pretty mediocre games when your team just doesn't push.

I don't like 'em.

I started out trying to build what is essentially a crap version of my hellbringer loadout (lbx 20 & 7small pulse) but its too fragile to brawl and doesnt put out damage like the HBR does.

I've kind of settled into a sniperish build for leveling the Gargoyles with 2 ERLL and 4 ERML. It gets OK damage but tends not to get many kills. I can't see myself playing them much once they're levelled.

I've done 1100-1200 damage in the 6xMPL Gargolyle on a few occasions. If laser hitreg isn't borked, it's roughly on par with a Hellbringer's MPL builds, but with bad, low mounted hardpoints.

That would only get you about 50% of the way there. After that you'd need to address the whole terribad hardpoint locations issue. It is so laughably easy to castrate this mech. Not a single ST hardpoint to be found. Can we please get the E, G, and H ST omnipods? Please?! Do we have to beg?

I feel like one thing the Gargoyle has going for it is the ability to effectively shield it's torso with its arms, something the Warhawk and the Dire Whale cannot do. Unfortunately, that means your shielding a location with no weapons with one that does. Access to the E and G torso pods would help the Gargoyle by adding higher weapons mounts, as well as giving it the ability to leverage those shield arms. It would still need other adjustments, but that would HELP at least.

The Warhawk needs love for sure, but at least it can field meaningful weapons loadouts, especially if you can leverage all of those hardwired heatsinks.

so how does it raise its arms to shield tthat giant polished stel bald? answer: i doesn't as long as a mech is not very very close, the head (the visual one, not the hitbox head) is easy to hit.

in about 8 years.

And IDK, I find twisting keeps my arms attached, and the ct hardpoints useful. ST would be nice, but hardly end of the world. Would not complain about some nice juicy IS buffs though.

But I find my Modified Prime to be a relatively decent skirmisher, but adding Endo would free up 4 tons, so I could double my LB-5X ammo load and add a pair of ermlasers to the CT.

IS it meta? Nope. Does it work? Yup.

Why would we have to wait 8 years? I'm just asking for the pods, not the equipment inside them or the entire G, E, and H configuration. You know, like the Kitfox and the C arm pod? It's not like there isn't precedent for it. It would just give us those much needed ST hardpoints. What's wrong with that?

the C arm exists now, the pod you are asking for hasn't been made yet, because the design for it has not been made yet?
