Alright, I catch a lot of flak from my competitive friends for this Kitfox build that I run, but I often find that in my hands it works exceptionally well; I'm able to deal with meta-builds with no issue. It is because of this build, even, that I have kept playing MWO up until today, rather than setting it aside for something else.

For a long time, early on in my MWO career, this was literally the only mech I used, and I still practice with it almost every day. I think I was just trying to convince myself I liked MWO at the time when I built it, (just because it was a battletech game and that's what I've grown up on). After I put this little devil together though, I just clicked with it, and I've been playing the game faithfully ever since.

Anyway without further ado: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...0dfffb47c553ece

What do you guys think?

People constantly comment on how hot it runs, but I'm very well adjusted to managing my heat with it. It's also not the highest damage dealer, but I excell in pursuing and landing kill-shots on high threat targets in it, and when I'm not I'm lending support fire, providing ECM, and driving off other light mechs.

If you can keep range and snipe with the erppc, its ok.
I would drop the steaks for regular SRM. 5 sec cooldown will hurt in a brawl.

Kitfox builds i use:
SRM24

UAC5, ECM, 3erml

ECM ERML, 2ERLL

UAC5, 4erml

Heheh, I've heard that advice before, but the streaks have their own little synergies with the ERPPC. The most obvious synergy is that the ERPPC strips ECM.

Another is that I've gotten very good with my ERPPC marksmanship, at all ranges, and when fighting a high mobility target at a medium distance, it becomes too much trouble to try and switch between leading ERPPC shots AND leading SRM shots. The streaks allow me to focus on scoring hits with the ERPPC, because they can track the target themselves.

And that point on medium range brings me to another unappreciated quality of streaks, they outrange regular SRMS especially when you add a range module. With a level 5 module they reach out to just under 400 meters (396m) and it's ridiculous how helpful that turns out to be.

And I don't just stick to long range my friend. I've become all too familiar with how enemy players focus targets, I know when I can and can't dance out in front of a Dire Whale, and I know when is the right time to expose myself to 8 enemies to land a killshot on a cored heavy solo.

In my experience this build plays exceptionally well in a team, or solo.

I dunno it looks ok? Should be a nice build to support between the heavies and assaults, with mean little streaks for daring locusts and firestarters. I just wouldn't want to be catched alone with it.. by almost anything.

Hmm, I think that's true, but it doesn't really stop me with how i play. I don't try and fight anything bigger than me if I'm by myself, unless I'm sniping it of course. In most cases though, if it can outrun me, I can kill it, I battle meta-firestarters by myself all the time and I can drop them or send them packing 90% of the time.

The worst case scenario for me is running into something big and angry that can keep up with me. But even if I'm not as fast as a regular light, I can still maneuver like one and I can usually juke a big scary Timber Wolf or a Fresh Stormcrow when I need to give them the slip. That said I do tend to stay nearby allies unless I'm chasing a wounded enemy for a kill-shot.

I find that 1-2 jump jets is all you need for scaling cliffs, so i don't typically bring more than that. Instead I stuffed a couple of DHS in the legs (which actually increase their cooling efficiency when submerged in water, which is cool!).

I can definitely appreciate going the extra heat sink route instead of the extra weapon route though; you can keep those lasers firing constantly I'll bet.

I use the extra JJ to fly over enemies when I get in tight enough to use the spl. I find that in CQC this is the only chance I have

Makes sense. I can see how it'd be an effective mech to run in a attrician focused situation. I'm curious as to what your averege damage is in that thing. Mine's really nothing to brag about but I do get pretty consistent results with it.

Im a big lover of the SRM24 Kitfox. Had my 1st 700+ damage game in it.

Good on you dude, the SRM24 kitfox is a lot of fun; I used to run one. 709 damage is actually my current damage record in my before mentioned Kitfox. Because of it's setup, it's not exactly the best at damage racing, but I pretty consistently achieve 430 damage or so a match.

Just started using an ECM/2xERPPC build on a Kitfox. Stupid high heat but pumps out some damage. Might have to give this beast a spin.

If you like the double ERPPC ECM Kitfox, you should enjoy this build; that's exactly how I came up with this little guy, I was running the double ERPPC setup. The second ERPPC was nice but the occasional alpha strike just wasn't worth the heat for me. So I got to thinking about what I was having the most trouble with; the answer was other lights, so experimented with different streak setups and the double streak 4s proved to be the most optimal.

It ended up rounding out my build, even though now I can hit fast movers with my ERPPC because of practice (the streaks are still very helpful for when I'm being circled). After I got my weapon setup figured out it was just about fine tuning, 150 SSRMs almost always lasts me a whole match, 1 jumpjet is all I needed to scale cliffs, and I found that unless you're being hit with an arty strike, you really need very little armor on your head. I took all the weight i saved by cutting down my ammo, head armor, and JJs, and I stuck two DHS in the legs so that i could keep that ERPPC cool on the hotter maps (not to mention extra cooling from standing in water is sweet!).

Dunno if you're that interested, but I recommend ERPPC Cooldown, Streak Range, and Advanced Zoom modules for this build. I also run Seismic Sensors with my mastery slot, but I find that to be more about preference than the other three.
