Playing with the Falcons and just playing, I have learned a lot about this game. And I have 3 decades of BTT experience. There is a LOT of stuff to learn and the difference between an effective 'Mech and a pathetic 'Mech is significant. And what is effective can change with each patch and what people tend to play. So much clan stuff isn't as effective anymore. PPCs and Ultra AC's are basically direct fire LRMs doing scatter damage. Sure you yellow every spot on the enemy but they don't go down!
The question PGI has to ask is if they want a game with such a high learning curve.
I did the challenge in about 70 games and I honestly think it made me a better player. I was forced to be aggressive. You wing someone, you chase them down and finish them off. You don't duck back and avoid fire to get your next good shot. However, I over extended lots. I'd chase some fellow and turn a corner and face 6 enemy 'mechs. So it also gives you an appreciation for thinking and planning. Sometimes you CAN get out of that situation. You torso twist and go for the nearest cover.
What really helped; The SECOND I died, or the game was over, I left the match, grabbed a new 'Mech and moved on. I didn't think about the loss. I moved on right away. I tried to not make the same mistake. I didn't stick around and complain. It made the grinding faster.
My advice to everyone is to find a team and it they don't spend time teaching you, find another team.

The Survive-Thing was more Fun!
And yes, this Event was pretty hard!
Made 60 Points on 2 Accounts.
16hours left. 9 Points - np. I will do Prem-Time on 3 or more Test-Accounts.
Thx PGI - and pls, let me buy a dmg-Counter as Cockpit-Item or putable on a Screen in my Cockpit. I would pay much MC for that. Will be cool to know how much dmg i did while i m playin.

saw this, thought "well, you could try again..."
played exactly 20 games
achieved exactly 0 points (losing 16 out of 20 games...)
uninstalled MWO for good
Thanks for sharing.
On another note - if you are getting intentionally team killed and its blatant, just report it!!
Only 7 points to go after about 60 matches. Will.not.let.this.one.slip
On Appogee - worse when you get 1K 1A and then the team loses or your team wins and you miss out on the kill

I don't think I'm going to get this one. No joke, this evening has been curbstomp after curbstomp, and I've been on the curb end much more that I would like. Things were going pretty well earlier this afternoon.
On the plus side, the Premium time helped me basic my new ON1-K fairly quickly. Which is nice considering I currently have a miserly 0.38 K/D with it right now. I do pretty well in my basic'd VA so I'm going to write that off as a result of the severe ass kickings I've been receiving all night.

This and the Victor's challenge as many have pointed out, has brought out the worst in players, and worse players, lol. It also makes it a much larger grind overall, because you have to win, so 12 people are eliminated per match immediately. Then of 12 possible points, if someone kills more than one or someone suicides on the losing side thats another player out of the running each time. So each match you're looking at maybe 6ish points? While in the scoring challenges, if you participated in a non-derp way, you'd get a point so each match could have 12 or more points available.

If you are having that bad of a time (and sure I had 8 straight losing games on saturday which SUCKED) and cant carry your team with the help of one other good PUG on your team. go to Comstar ts and join a group.... if you are a good player than you'll do fine in the group queue. if you cant hack it in the group queue than you have nothing to complain about.
That's what I was still doing this afternoon after getting my 30 points in the solo queue cause I could, still haven't been able to get a match score above 200 though...

Imo that is reasonable, considering how awfully frustrating the victor challenge was.

Yes, I had a lot of fun the first night, and I think it was a lot better than the Victor challenge, but man...that was rough.
Group queue went great on Friday, some of the most fun I've had in MWO period, great games, close games, even the losses were fun. Then Saturday became a bit of a slog, tougher games, better opponents in group. All in all, got 14 wins the first day, I think 3 on Saturday...all day, plus most of the night.
Then Sunday, oh ye sweetest of MWO days(sarcasm engaged), spent from about 1pm to 4 am finishing the last 13 wins, with long, long stretches of some of the worst games I've ever seen in any game, ever. It was almost as if people were trying to lose...spreading out, sitting still, not even kill-stealing or team-killing, it's like no one was trying at all to even play whatsoever at times.
Finally, I lucked out, and started getting my former PUGs as opponents, and I got to kill those same people as they literally did next to nothing. It was a massive relief, because I need some sleep...
Was all this worth it for a mech I already own, and a mech bay? No, in retrospect, probably not...but I always forget that when these events start, and only remember it halfway through...
Good hunting out there.
EDIT- 107 games approx. total.

60 of those had 1 or more kill and an assist but thirty of those the team overall lost the match.
1 match where someone stole my solo kill and I completed the match thinking I had the kill and didn't destroy any other mechs, just damaged them for others, ended with assists only.
1 match 4 kills 0 assists. DId not qualify!
Quite a few matches I stomped in early and took 2-3 kills and helped put the team in front but then the team folded when the enemy push came. So started holding back a little.
Earned more than 12m C-bills over the weekend which will go towards a new crab!
A lot more fun than the victor challenge.
And it also involved "The best match ever!"
Cheers PGI

Probably... its a free to play game, Pay for Content or Be Content. I had no trouble getting points while group dropping and only had a few games where I died immediately & dropped out or the 1 game where I lasted to/near the end without a kill. It was just playing the PUG lottery this event. The only event I didn't finish was the 50 solo match wins, gave up at 24 since that one was a nightmare where I couldn't go group drop and farm the points when i got tired of the bad solo queue mismatches.
