You are only looking at data from people who created a forum account, which is a small fraction of the player base. And your "active" founders metric is again based on people who post on the forums.

Apples and oranges. 90% of the player base doesn't even bother coming to the forums, because who wants to read posts like yours?

I appreciate the comments, except from Fupdup. I have no idea why one person would have 40,000 + posts on a video game forum. You may have broke the world record for wasting words in the English language.

In the spirit of using information effectively, I leave this following data for the community to absorb. (Numbers rounded)

Unique MWO accounts since inception: 608,000
Percent played past recruit bonus = 90%
Number of founder accounts: 54,000
Number of active founder accounts: 1500
Number of new accounts in 2014: 51000
Percent of 2014 accounts played past recruit bonus:45%

Number of accounts inactive from December o January: 8000 (Yes, 8000 less people played in Jan than Dec)
New accounts in 2015: 1520
New accounts past recruit bonus: 660

Sorry for the bad news.

No kidding. He needs to put "forum" in front of 90% of his metrics. It's not 1520 new accounts in MWO in 2015. It's 1520 people who registered on the forums. The number of people who signed up to play the game will be orders of magnitude more.

To clear up a few things, "I'm already famous" refers to the player illmakeufamous. I only know him in games, but I ritually typed that to him in hundreds of games. He has the best name in my opinion. Please continue my tradition if you see him.

As for the source of data....I rather not say, but it is public information. You just need to know where to look.

Not trying to defend him, but I believe the game account is directly tied to the forum account. One creates the other.

And at all time high previous to that as well, since their servers are getting maxxed out.

Nope. You never need to create a forum account. You specifically have to click on the forum tab to start that process.

The replies in this thread are a nice way of thanking a guy who actually bothered to include new players to the game. You know, the guys who pay the devs so that the game that the superstars can play and be elitist in stays open. He is personally responsible for at least 200 accounts staying active to this day.

It's always nice to have a community that doesn't care for it's own survival.

He's also outright lying about numbers to make the game look like it's dying. If he went away with a normal thanks.txt, nobody would have said anything. Instead he decided to take parting shots out of spite.

He may have done his fair share to help the game out, but he's basically undoing it all with the lies at the end.

As Heffay said, until visit the forum - your account there does not exist.

Xabidar on my friends list had his in game account for ~4 months before he ever visited the forum - I could not add him there until he did.

I can somewhat understand where you are coming from - be the guy's every post is screaming "I am trouble!"

The very OP is outright banned by the forum rules!
On top of that - to post you are leaving...
And then stick around and argue about it?

Having said all that - Welcome to K-town Folks!

Well, I noticed he ignored my genuine question about why he is leaving due to CW on the very day Russ updates information on CW, in order to respond to the trolls and make 'doom and gloom' posts. So it looks like he was looking for some attention. Maybe he started out well, and those 200 people like him, but the thousands who might read this will just think he is an ass.

+1

Out of all the members of the FWLM, I have seen maybe 6 posting on the forums. The forum is a poor guide to the game's health.

I thought the same when CW dropped....but rather than quitting , for some reason , my internet connetion dropped for 2 weeks.

Went back on new years eve and was just a case of burnout.

Now i'm waitin for my new panthers and faction content.

About zitos data.....can't say is valid or not since no one can take forum data seriusly but on the other hand in this 2 years of playing mwo i recruited nearly 20 players from which only ONE is active and actually loves the game (he was burned from warframe)

He didn't lie about the numbers, the reason he isn't posting the source is simply to protect our recruitment strategy. Which has been more focused and fruitful than anything else I've seen from anyone in the last 3 years. The data is actually public. Also, your accounts are linked on the website and the game so one creates the other.

He may be jaded, but his data isn't flawed. I don't agree with his appraisal of the situation but calling him a liar isn't going to fly.

What he said about player retention is simply seen in your friend list. Unless you're lying or pruning it regularly, then you noticed that many old friends have not been online in months. Sure Xmas had something to do with it but that's not it. pGI, despite their recent boom in activity is still far shorter on maps and features than is needed to keep people focused. After 15000 games, you saw it all. Add to that broken mechanics (playing racing in a combat game...) and it makes you a little jaded and tired.

I hope he returns because he's a fantastic guy to play with but I can't blame him for the massive burnout.

Bullshit. I know exactly how he got the numbers: Click on the Overall Top Posters on the main forum page, sort by date joined, and calculate at a rate of 20 per page. It's JUST forum accounts, and just a tiny fraction of the actual player base.

So you're saying that 600000 ( give or take a few) accounts represents a tiny fraction of the overall player base? I'm sure you would lile to reword your answer now.
