Anyone around here know of any ways to overclock a CPU on a locked MOBO? I was doing a little digging last night and found alot of resounding "NO" topics. It is a Intel Q9000 on a Clevo M860TU MOBO (I know dinosaur lol).

In hindsight, when I ordered my laptop i wish i had just sprung the extra $100 for the QX9100 which is unlocked <_<. Don't get me wrong this thing runs like a champ still, just not up to snuff with all over the new stuff :(

Nope, won't be possible I think, only possible way would be to get a program that allows Software OCing but I doubt that would work. I'd say time to upgrade, and make sure to get something unlocked and allows BIOS OCing this time if you want to OC.

Edit: Googled "Clevo M860TU Overclock" and this is the 1st result: http://forum.noteboo...evo-m860tu.html

Yeppers.... only two options and one is a software OC. The other is rather risky, and may not be an option, but I have seen modded Bios files out on the web for many different motherboards. Use at your own risk if you go the later option, if you can even find one for your motherboard. Get the wrong bios and you could brick your laptop. Good luck man, let us know how it turns out.

Yeah, the Laptop would be OK for doing work things, text documents & File Storage, a Desktop would be better for Gaming though
