I can see how this might be an issue when they give LP bonuses to people who use faction skins

But are they, or are they going to reward for owning it?

On top of that, chances are very good, that those decals that the OP is upset about, he will never really see. Except for a few mechs, I am never close enough to see the fine details.

Tim Horton's!
(I'm not Canadian, so their products I know of are Tim Horton's, and the Chevrolet Camaro.)

Alistair beat me to it... and has better links lol NICE...

That yellow on the nose of the plane would have been on every plane in the squadron, along with the black and white underside stripes, and that color on the upper surfaces of the wings and empennage.

Where this plane says "Lou IV", the other planes in the squadron would have different text, but they'd all have something.
(One that particularly sticks with me is where the plane had the name of a woman, then the name was crossed out and replaced with "She couldn't wait". )

Some squadrons used blue in place of the yellow, and several P-51s are currently maintained in that scheme, because rich P-51 owners like it.

The Tuskegee Airmen had multiple squadrons of planes with red tails and nose markings.

I just have to say that the original game based its designs on mecha from a lot of different places to include a lot from anime and such, look at those travesties. Another thing, few people actually wnat to camouflage their mechs, they want them to stand out for some stupid reason.

Some people take the game to be a military, squad based tank/shooter thing. Others take it as a way to have fun and get attention through their mechs. If youa have a problem with the colors, you should have a problem with every mech that isn't grey, black, brown, green, grey, or any shades of them.

I say let people put stupid colors on their mechs, it lets me see them better.

i think these are official IS faction skins tho

thats fine, thats "decal" its added afterwards, but not on the standard issue Faction skins.
you won't see a 12 man with "Nine O Nine" or swastikas or "eat me" all on them on the same spot, like you will with these skins when they go live.

These are literally selling you "customization" but without letting people customize. Everybody will have the exact same customized mech. Its like designer jeans.

No army is going to issue "designer uniform" to its soldiers.

Yes they do. They are just green.

Unless you count things like Dress Blues or Dress Whites For Jarheads for instance.

Oddly enough, those faction camos, while not exactly canon for the FACTIONS, are pretty common for BTech itself, including faction units with the written messages. IS Mechs are known to have ALL sorts of messages written on them, some inspirational, some crude, some x-rated. Clan Mechs are ALSO well known for having messages on them, typically Remembrance passages, but also threats and the like.

Heavy Metal is a canon based Hero Mech, it was painted hot pink and had all that text on it.

I'm still waiting for a neon hot pink paint so my Atlas can have that on it, along with decals that say 'Hows my driving call 18003287448' 'If you can read this, I'm probably dead' and the SRM skull and rat logo. And yes, I've used similiar color schemes and decals in other games, made them myself for many games. Not all of us like to hide, some of us like to stand out and draw attention, it can be fun when our hidden teammates descend on the enemy's back.

Because phrases, like "Eat this!", are commonly seen in Nascar...

I'd drive a mech that says "I piss excellence!" on it.

What is on the mechs is not NASCAR.

What is on the mechs, are slogans. like "WAR PIG" and the like.

Have you never seen actual combat tanks and unit insignia's/slogans painted on them?

Hell my granddad told me they had anti vietnamise stuff on his tank during Vietnam... it's just something soldiers do to their ride.

And teh band that went around my Kevlar Helmet proclaimed "F_ _ _ You. I 'm Married!" to the Jarhead behind me in column marches. Us Infantrymen did that kind of stuff to "personalize" our gear.

Writings should be decals, which should be optional.
Everyone could get what they want.
