I was spectating a 3M Boomacada last night who was out of ammo. He was using his remaining 3 small lasers to duel a Firestarter. The Firestarter was a bad shot, and the Boomcada was able to kill it.

Then the Firestarter pilot (of all people) complained in chat that the Cicada's hitboxes were borked and needed to be fixed. I just laughed to myself and bit my tongue. :)

borked hitboxes or no, a great pilot in any mech is better then a fair pilot in any mech. Many top notch folks in the game can literally take almost any mech and destroy an average to high tier 2, low tier one average player. The skill differential is real and huge. I'm not pointing at any one individual but, there is the top 50 or so pilots and then, there is the rest of us, and that gap is very large. The whole "I'll bring a firestarter and you bring an assault" thing would likely end badly for the would be assailant, you all do realize that A dual gauss or even 3-4 srm 6 packs will absolutely wreck a light, even laser vommit can leg one quickly, by a good shot, and the high tier elo folks just don't miss much. Adiuvo remarked about the differences of lights in high tier fights Vs. pug, it truly exists, some light pilots can still do work in high tier games, but it is much less likely, one wrong turn and you are typically missing a leg, arm, or even a head, and 4 medium, lasers from a clan mech at 500 meters, just rips ya, even if your good, it turns good light pilots in to scouts and red herrings in the high tier comp games, they can still be a weapon, but they are fragile, and once again, some of these guys rarely miss if you make one tiny little mis step. yes the FS has hit box issues, always has, but no it does not make it OP overall.

spider very mobile with JJ's and moderate fire power decent at hit and run or ambush.

commando general purpose and small size makes it great at harassing.

Jenner decent all rounder can be built to fit most needs. aka "Jack of all trades master of None"

raven decent fire power and speed usually sniping or staying with bigger mechs. large profile and fat hitboxes.

Locust fast and small size hard to hit but low firepower never sees front line fighting... hit and run is its only real quality.

Fire starter
: can be as fast or faster than all but a handful of light mechs.
: on average it has more fire power than most other light mechs.
: small enough to be just as hard to hit as any light mech
: hit boxes like the old spider before it was fixed
: more armor and able to torso twist enough, it can tank like a heavy mech.
: will and dose win in 1 on 1 fight with most mechs 50-60% of the time

congratulations PGi you have made a 140+kph JJ capable light mech, able to kill or cripple any! Mech in the game with 3 bursts or less form is 35-45+ point alpha with full armor and max engine, and just as small as a Jenner and 2X harder to kill.

you see any problem with this?... any problem at all?

ill tell you.... it is typically a hot running mech, but it kills or cripples most mechs before that heat problem can hurt it. and if it cant kill or cripple the mech it can outrun them. In the hands of a even remotely competent driver it is "blatantly" OP like no other light in the game.

Funny to see people QQ about the FS while the extra Derpy buy the MC Huginn for its sustained derp DPS. (Ammo is the only limit.)

Did some one say Assaults ?
Got reminded of the good old pre 4x3 days, where extreme weight miss-matches could happen.
1 vs 8 Assaults.. LOL..

Just reintroduce knockdown - both from running into a mech/object and getting hit close-range by an ac20 or alpha
