YAY, PGI is giving away sub par mechs!

I hope the next challenge I can win a trebuchet!!

It might still come true.

I'd rather have a Stalker-3F one... just so I can avoid buying it.

There's still the wonderful Thunderbolt-9SE Champion (what the build is for, who knows...), the Kintaro-18 Champion (with XL AND CASE!!) and who could forget the Atlas-RS Champion (that has LRMs).

So much awesomeness, you can't contain it!

The 9SE simply isn't there (yet?).

It has decent quirks, but they don't really go far enough to counterbalance the poor placement of all of the energy hardpoints.

The 9S actually has better -heat gen for LPLs than the 9SE and the 5SS has better range with LPLs than the 9SE.

The 9SE has the overall best combinations for using LPLs, but no sniping mounts and the weapons are separated into LT & RA which means you can't even realistically sacrifice a shield side.

This variant likely got shafted due to being the only one that is JJ capable, which should have just been ignored considering the points above and the fact that JJ sniping with LPLs isn't actually much of a tactic.

This mech is what you get when you take a Thunderturd and don't give it enough quirks to counterbalance all of the bad aspects.

It is my understanding that along with Orions, Cataphracts will be getting their quirks re-evaluated and revamped in the next pass.

It was mentioned by Sean Lang recently, but I'm unsure if it was one of his streams or if it was in one of the recent NGNG podcasts (127 or 128, I'm leaning towards it having been in one of the podcasts as I don't often watch his streams).

PGI thinks Cataphract-3D is the best IS heavy in the game so it doesn't need any.

weird thinking if you take that it is basically a 1X with exchanging an E for an B hardpoint. And So I wonder what laodouts exactly make the 3D so far more powerful than the 1X.

Jump Jets for the PopTart meta. without the poptart meta it can bring a gauss and ppcs. All the cataphracts are really similar.

The 3D is not exactly like the 1X. The 3D has 2x Ballistics as an option.

The joke was on the stock Champion builds... and not the mech itself.

I thought that wasn't lost on people... :(

While the champ builds is awful, the mech itself really isn't much better.

I feel like the 1x is better than the 3d since jump sniping likes to strip armor.

Quirks badly needed.
