Why Some Of You Struggle To Do The Challange

I saw incidents like...
...often 3-5 mechs turn to chase a light mech and kill it. They got the kill...but it did them no good because the team lost.
...when I fought a mech my "teammate" held his alpha back until he was sure to get the killing blow - simply because he could because the enemy focused on me.
However, those were not just the "casuals". The latter example was typical for people with a unit tag

My two cents...
I spent f'in ages Sunday/Monday playing in excess of 60 games to get what, 22 points.
Now some will say, 'Hey, but you started on Sunday when the challenge started Friday' and to those I say 'Well, firstly I was ill and bed bound until Saturday night when I saw the challenge posted, secondly, its not my ability that's at fault and third I work Saturdays and every second Sunday normally so this isn't the first time it's happened.
Too many games I have been grouped with, I'll put this politely, people better suited to World of Tanks or tiddlywinks than Mechwarrior Online. I've lost count of the number of matches I killed 1-4 mechs and came top scorer. 'Ooo, blowing his own trumpet' you might say but made WORSE by the fact I did this in a friggin MEDIUM mech. Hell, some matches the heavies/assaults didn't get much into double figures in damage done!!!!!!!! I may not be the best, but compared with others I've dropped with...
In this example, we were up right from the start...
And this is just to show the score wasn't a 'fluke' and that a lance working together can work well. You'll note the light lance I was with took half the kills...
So, with the matchmaker kicking you into groups of lower value to even out the ability (the ELO), how CAN you get a fair chance to get this?
Firsty, on challenge days, STOP allowing groups. Some may call 'UNFAIR' but it evens the challenge across everyone. If a team has more able pilots than normal, then how can it be fair for everyone else at the moment?
Second, STOP assuming everyone is in the same timezone and base the challenge start/end on your signed up geographic location. Reading the log in IP address and basing it on that would be better!
Third, why not have a mid-week challenge for a change instead of 'assuming' everyone doesn't work Saturday or Sunday?
I've seen myself getting so annoyed this weekend at the LACK of ability in team mates that I am really quite put off this challenge mode of play. I know I'm not alone as there have been too many people voicing the exact same concerns over the last three hours at the (lack) of quality in teams and the therefore inability to get points.
So, my two cents worth. Not read anything above bar the post starters post and had to laugh. Someone there who drops as a team obviously. So, go ahead flame, poke fun at, do whatever you want with this thread. I'm past caring now.

your first amtchh was a fair chance, both teams did equally damage (maybe your team even more) and this wiht one of them being dc'ed so you just worked inefficent together. your tam even was betetr than the one you had in the second screen. Your team was not bad, the others were just a tiny bit better.

Only played the usual Queue lately?
I don't think it is rude what you posted because any response I could give like this one would be too and they are not.
However, we have been around long enough to know the game still does not reward some roles properly. Some of the more recent changes are kinda like a band-aid for that but not true Role Warfare rewards and even these band-aid rewards have their complainers that they should not exist.
Worse, only once have we had any sort of team based contest back around June and that one was limited to certain teams only.
I partially agree with this though I also know at times one person's view may be wrong when the other is not understood.

Been playing everything but CW lately. SO if by "usual" you mean Public drops, then yes. Team, and solo. Sadly, I seem to get better results solo than most teams I drop with these days. (Though in fairness, most of the good drop commanders in CGBI seem focused on CW. Which I jut don't have the time for ATM. )
Sad part is, yes I could run a MEtaMEch and probably carry harder. But if I already am topping the leaderboard 3 out of 5 matches, and almost always top 3 the other 2 (not counting the occasional "oh crap" match, lol), I would have to say at the end of the day, I'd have cushier stats...but probably not any more wins.

It's really about the numbers. We can all provide anecdotal evidence about what is and isn't wrong with MWO. Raw numbers for me looked like:
Matches: 129
Kills: 50 (.39 per game)
Deaths: 95 (73%)
Assists: 529 (4.1 per game)
Wins: 52 (40%)
Points: 23 (17%)
I am likely just an average player in the public queue. I routinely pull 500+ damage in my Heavy Mechs. My lights are more for ECM support, but they will pull 400 on a good match but usually 200ish. I'm just coming back after a year break too so maybe I just suck. It seems obvious that you need a Unit to drop with to find consistent success because the public queues are painful at times.
That's the frustrating part. I did my job. I bubble wrapped the assaults to ward off the meta-challenge rocket brigades. I tagged for my teams LRMs. I spotted, I fought... I made a pile of cbills. Still failed to meet the challenge.
I guess I should start looking for an anti-timid, no ridge humping, no peek-n-poke unit to call home.

Friday I was getting a reasonable number of points. (8, after a few hours and maybe 20 matches)
Saturday and Sunday, one point total. I was getting kill+assist in half the games, and the team was winning about half the time, but they were opposite halves and I never got both a kill and a win in the same game for two freaking days.
Gaaaaah. x.x

I agree, stats are better than anecdotes.
Almost all of these were solo queue, I think I did 4 matches with some friends (we didn't do well, lol).
Matches: 61
Kills: 86 (1.4 per game)
Deaths: 36 (0.59 per game)
Assists: 284 (4.66 per game)
Wins: 34 (55.74%)
Qualified: 30
Points: 30
Early on I realized that altruism wasn't going to win matches in the solo queue and that I would need to break some eggs for my omelet.

I gave up on this Saturday after several consecutive bad games and logged out to do some things I actually enjoy. I ended up with a score of 4. It just got too tedious and the cataphract just wasn't worth the hassle. I'd rather play the game for fun, and this challenge wasn't fun for me. I'd rather have challenges based entirely on my performance, because I can usually pull those off.

Assists: 345 (4.86 per game)
Wins: 35 (50%)
Qualified: 30 (42%)

All solo
Matches: 71
Kills: 80 (1.12 per game)
Deaths: 54 (0.76 per game)
Assists: 376 (5.3 per game)
Wins: 42 (59%)
Qualified 30 (42%)
Points: 30
I wish I recorded how much damage I was doing for all the matches because I didn't change my playstyle for the challenge and took it to the enemy and did not relent. Maybe next Challenge I will do so.
Cheers!
