When alone and out numbered and no good chance of retreat. Lock your targets and attack the mech with the most damage.

You-ed be surprised how often you can achieve a kill and survive. Tho sometimes it hurts.

When ever possible check your min map in standard view as well as expanded. It helps you have a better idea of the ebb and flow of the battle as well as your orientation.

Tho lately the duplication bug in targets shown has been a bit on an issue.

When ever possible check your weapons groups and test fire your weapons before you enter a match.

You don't want to get to involved in that procedure when you drop. It can bite you.

Shutting down during a match can be advantageous (Breaking LRM locks and to hide from adversary's, it's a good tool for ambushes.) but remember that you need to have mastered the Quick start-up with your Mech Exp. for a quick response.

Tho you may want to do it in better cover.

Tho please watch your weapons fire and don't damage your lance mates after you drop as you move out.
