Let's make this happen, people. We only need to get this thing up to hundreds of pages and keep it going for 700+ days.

Only YOU can make HATCHETMAN happen.

I WILL BRING MUCH HONOR TO FAMILY!

As much as I'd love to see the Hachetman in game, the melee/collision system is a relatively low priority.

I dunno. Russ seems pretty keen on getting collisions. Melee combat can't be far of once we get collisions. :D

It's a pretty good mech even without the melee, though. Also fits into a niche that isn't overrun by other mechs: 45 tons. Torso mounted AC10, two MLs in the arms. Jump Jets...

It would be a pretty good mech. And with melee, it would be that much more nasty.

Collisions is one thing, as its first off already been in the game and second is fairly simple compared to melee. This requires the entire mech control mechanics to be redesigned and would potentially take up at least a year of work to get working between coding, animation, and new art assets as well as balancing it.

You might be able to get away with the Hatchetman (I think?) that used the mech sized handheld weapons though.

The Axeman is my absolute favorite mech! The big brother of the Hatchetman.

Hatchetman, the answer to our Catapult ear-size problem.

Violent-J Hero variant with clown makeup and "I'm the neck cutter..." war horn would be pretty sweet.

Since its hatcheting off a Catapults ear, it clearly dislikes Cats. Therefore, stay away with this brute.

Honestly, I dont think axe/sword fighters will make it in anytime soon. Would be nice to see them, especially if mechs like the Atlas can use their fists for punching.

I would totally pay cash for an Adam Steiner Hero Axman (canonically he used a AXM-2N, but whatever). Problem with the AC20 Axman is the split criticals on the cannon.

We need Melee, it's not mechwarrior without it.

I therefore support the hatchetman for the next several years or until such time as it is delivered.

Given that criteria, we've never had a Mechwarrior game.

Did I miss a Mechwarrior installment somewhere? I don't remember any of them ever having melee. Heck even MechCommander didn't have melee and that would've been far more manageable.

Not sure about melee per say, I do remember death from above being in though.

Dude, I would love to have the Chameleon. People gush about the Phoenix Hawk, but neglect the fact that the Chameleon is better armed, has more robust structure, has better armor placement in TT, and the same speed.

MWO-wise, however, the difference would be the arm mounted ballistics of the PHX versus the Chameleon's CT mounted. Not sure how that would pan out for people.

I don't even think melee would be that hard to implement. You just have it as a weapon with a range of, say, 5m that does X damage (where X is a % of the mech's weight). Then you just have the animation.
