The Arena - Solaris VII - Ladder Play

Team play, solo, the whole nine yards.
I so miss this aspect of mechwarrior and mechwarrior 2.
All Pirahna actually needs to do to succeed with this title is copy and expand upon GEnie:MPBT. People got cbills and real cash prizes for winning tournaments there. The cash was always nice, because not only were you typically making a long distance phone call to connect to the genie service, but then you got dinged by the minute to USE the service...
I remember having some VERY hefty phone bills and CC bills back in the early 80's.
Oh, and happy turkey day to everyone that celebrates it!

I think game seasons would be the best for this and prizes of in game c-bills, mechs or parts as well as maybe have a real life reward every now or then, the reason for this is that it sets a period of time for players to engage at their own rate, or even engage at all. If they wish to sit out for this season or join half way then that is great and up to them. This will also create competition. With this as well I think that a season should be each quarter, or every 3 months which allows for users to sit out a season but not have to wait an overly long time for another.
I may come back to this when I put a bit more thought into this and my argument for it.

I'd be definitely interrested if I could fight in Ishiyama.

Just don't let anyone in if they're mounting a Clan Hunchie. Blew my way through all of Solaris on one of those in MW4: Mercs with barely a scratch on me. No, not just the medium class, all of Solaris. Those things are the dirtiest dueling 'mechs to ever mount a pair of LB/X 20s.

That'd pretty much be a foregone conclusion if Solaris makes the cut. I mean, the guy lent his voice to MWLL, presumably for free. An actual paid job doing the voice of Duncan Fisher again? Something tells me he'd be all over that.

Maybe as a nice break from the 'map' play.

The Solaris VII Battle Consortium supplies the Mechs for all matches (your groups picks up all repairs as the Entrance fee).
Sadly, picking weight class between warriors may get sketchy (some will always cry foul)
A Solaris Beta Test Tourney could be run to determine how many sooks there are and if to many cry foul the Solaris VII idea simply gets scrapped. (Nice thought though)

Also, Solaris arena fights are the perfect way to blend MWO with eSports, which is a huge trend these days and one that is very beneficial to a game's success.
I would want these circuits available:
Light Circuit
Medium Circuit
Heavy Circuit
Assault Circuit
Open Circuit
Each circuit is a free for all with maybe 4-12 pilots, and as the season comes to a climax the top 32 pilots start competing in a ladder at eSports events, or something like that.

Every Solaris Player starts in "The Reaches", the down and dirty "Off-Circuit" or minor leagues. There is no cost to enter and you can rent Mechs to participate.
Players can also join "Stables". These can create a joint pool of assets. You can setup an HQ facilitiy, hire staff, purchase mechs, and more.
Then you have An Annual "Grand Invitational Tournaments" of Seven Divisions(no Stable with Pilots in Solaris Circuit can register pilots).Pilots pay a small fee for a slot. Now if a stable/co-op purchases a slot, then the pilot(s) are their "Champion(s)"(with designated alternates). Notice I said twelve. That is "Single" Light, Medium, Heavy, Assault, and Open, and a "Team". Each has 32 slots, with the top four slots being "promoted" to Solaris City. A pilot can only participate in one Tournament. Each Tourney has 32 slots. The top 4 winning slots in each tourney are "Promoted" to the relevant tier in Solaris City.
Solaris City is divided into the same Seven Divisions as the Invitational Tourney. They fight scheduled matches in the Major and Minor Arenas of Solaris City. As in the Invitational Tourney, a pilot can only participate in one Division each Year(they can switch divisions during the Off-Season). The Best Pilot in Each Weight Division is the "Weight class" Champion
Each Year you have a "Grand Tournament" with the winner being crowned the "Grand Champion of Solaris" for One Year.
Rules could be enforced by the "Solaris Gaming Commission", a collective of Stable Owners and one or more Game Admins.
Players could also run their own private Tournaments during the year.
In regards to gambling, you could have that be player run

Real seasons, weight class brackets, championships, the arenas, et cetera. Make it feel like the novels came alive.

It seems to me that Solaris 7 would be a great starting point.
They could work out all the balance issues before releasing the full game.
Sorry if there is an official release somewhere on this but...
Will there be Arena play? I sure hope so...
