I got an ultra wide screen and using the in game settings, it stretches the image at the edges of the screen. I'm pretty sure I can get more FOV but I would like to know if anyone knows the perfect setting for this.

The stretching starts right at the side windows and is super obvious. I feel like it's 25% or more, as it is so extreme, but that might just be my perception of things.

yeah, this would be nice to know. I recently got 3 screens rolling, 5760x1080. sides definitely look stretched. after one of my monitors comes back (RMA) I was going to play with the cfg file and change the FOV. no idea what the number should be, if you figure it out post back here :P

Is it possible that the game engine is just doing it wrong and once you get to the side windows it stretches the image more no matter what the FOV is at? I tried playing with it and it only got uglier.

I feel like I added 4" to each side of my monitor and only got 2" more viewing area.

5760x1080 sounds like it should show almost 270 degrees if it renders it normally. Isn't the limitation of the engine 120 degrees?

It's like the side windows zoom in, as well. I took these shots without moving my feet.

Also, when something moves from one pane of glass to another, the image is actually cutting the mech in two peices and sticking the bar in between them instead of occluding part of the mech.

I imagine this must be nauseating in 3D.

Also also, I used the FOV calculator when I got the monitor and the results looked terrible. Something is janky with the way MWO renders images.

The sides always stretch with ultra wide... that's driver level and how it is supposed to work (peripheral vision).

Stop staring at the wing monitors and focus on the center monitor

Glad I didn't go with three monitors, then. If I could see more, it would be even more ridiculous looking. Or maybe not, since if I could see more, it would just be cockpit, and that doesn't seem to stretch.

I've had a three monitor setup for a while now and I love it. Sure, the outside edges get some distortion but I find I'm not looking at them directly most of the time anyway. They're great for seeing more of what's going on to help with situational awareness and actually see arm mounted weapons. I'm not sure what my current cfg settings are but maybe I'll test some other settings this weekend. Also, I've never noticed the cutting of anything as they moved through the window panes. I'll have to test this as well.

I upgraded to a 3rd screen a while ago (after getting a GTX770 OC).
But the distortion was a bit annoying, so I went back to 1 screen (22" widescreen).
The other reason was the fps loss from the average 70-100fps on one screen to 30-50fps on 3 screens. (ultra high without AA)

Single 770 wont have enough juice to run high fps in triple wide

This is what 5760x1080 looks like. locust cockpit. i'd like the cockpit supports to be closer to the monitor breaks. you can see the raven on the side all stretched out. if that was more normalized this actually is really fun to play with

also, I was still getting like 40fps. gtx680, i7-3770k

Yes, the stretching is obnoxious and can actually cause a bit of motion sickness if I'm drunk enough. There has to be a way to disable that. The distortion starts at the side window and gets worse as you go to the edge.

Would this happen on a 40" TV too?

Never mind, it doesn't have any issues :D

I run three monitors with 2 r9 290 in eyefinity view. I simply turned them all vertical. 3240x1920 at fov of 87. Looks great, but crossfire still may be contributing to crashes.
