Sure maybe hundreds of thousands have died in car accidents but there are millions of cars on the street every day.
Comparatively, 1 or 2 planets is probably more statistically significant when there are only about 40ish or so planets available for attack/defend during any given ceasefire.
Obviously the risk of loss of life in a car accident is infinitely more important than essentially meaningless planets at this point, but the way you frame your response in terms of statistics is flawed.
