Wait, people think the matchmaker is there to give you an even match?

No. It's there to generate a team it wants to win and a team it wants to lose. And it really likes spiking the losing team with bad players to insure that, especially if that means finding a few people with high amounts of wins.

The better you are, the worse your PUG will get relative to yourself. You will carry harder until you're broken, and the longer you carry, the harder the backlash will become.

That is not answering my question at all. But are you sure about this? Thats depend on era and tech level you are fighting, but your called shots are quiet miss argue. There is some tac ops rules for it, but no one is using it, and you would need gunnery 2 or something to hit anything, and even then its not like everything is going to hit aimed location, you going to have massive to hit penalty with just a chance to hit aimed component. Only on afk pilot you can aim reliable on components like center. Now if you don`t count for walking around and hiding I would be not so sure about it.
From my observation what I first thought on quirks was that TTK dropped massively, the only one tactics become death ball roll, and most games ending with hard stomp. That at least for me, means worst game play.

Cant hurt to trial it for a few days like they did with AC2 cooldown.
See if it turns out better or worse.
Very hard to predict when we dont really know their current method and size of playerbase in the queue etc.

I predict a river of tears when people are exposed to true unfiltered high + low skill mix, because I think it is doing a better job of skill sorting than people give it credit for.
But I am completely open to seeing what happens in reality.

So what you're saying, to put it in modern terms, is that Match Maker is deflating our balls to give the other team an advantage so that they win?

Deflating your balls in 50% of matches and inflating in the remaining 50%. Thus ~1.0 W/L which on PGI island means balance. Baddies are happy coz they win 50% of the time even tho they are baddies. PGI makes game for baddies, PGI also happy. Working as IntendedTM.
