I Like The Challenges, But What If We Go More In-Def?

World of Tanks have now a system called Personal Missions I saw from multiple videos and friend gameplays, etc. I love those challenges (esp this past one it was a blast), but they have issues.
Pros:
-Free stuff
-People want to win more
-Makes the game a challenge, as the namesake
-More can be said but challenges are good for good amounts of reasons
Cons:
-No motivation on CW
-Some people zombie grind by trying to kill one guy and shoot another guy and then die then leave
-Gets really repetitive
-More can be said; I like challenges but some were more lackluster/grindy

So I think since we have the challenges and the achievements, we can sorta combine em. We can still have the time limited factor, but I think instead of grind grind grind, the motivation should be higher (i.e. enough MC for a free player, maybe even free mechs like this time). There should also be more (hence the name challenge, not a grind but more of a handful of demonstrative games that would take the same amount of time as those 50 matches like last time.) These can also help promote training/being better. Of course it's PGI's choice to do what it wants; it can choose the time limits or the loadouts or the set requirements. Just don't make it time limited and force us to Death Star in an Urbie. I'll give some examples:

1) Urbanmech (preset loadouts) challenges:
-Kill two mechs solo (get solo kill c-bill reward) in one game.
-Kill one mech in a backward stance (i.e. head turned 180 degrees backwards to shoot the enemy).
By preset loadouts I mean maybe like a champion set variant. Like maybe pick between AC20 + multiple SPLs variant vs 4xMGs + LPL config. Que in these mechs basically.
Rewards can be getting the specific variant that you won, or maybe an Urbie statue, or maybe some 360 torso retention, or something like that. Maybe up the challenge requirements. These can be time limited or not.

2) Mordor (er I mean Terra Therma) challenges:
-Hold center (have 9+ of the team go to center) and win the match.
-Flank outside and win the match without losing more than 6 mechs. But you must be able to take out all mechs trying to complete hold center challenge.
Que for this map for the challenge during the time limit or if there is not then just queing or it could be just hope you get it.
Rewards could be like a Mordor thing or something similar. Maybe free Hot Rod camo?

3) Other misc ones that I can think of:
-CW ones and other game mode ones
-Overall ones where you can pick a mech instead of que with a set loadout
-Overall map ones (i.e. only cold maps, only dark maps, etc)
-etc

So this would create more diversity. Overall grind challenges can exist still; I'm not advocating to permanently get em out, but I do wish for more diversity. Maybe there will be a reason for piloting that Spider 5V around. Maybe there will be a reason to pilot a Pretty Baby around. Maybe one can be happy whenever Mordor pops up. Maybe capping can be fun. I dunno, but this sounds like a more diverse gameplay for challenges and make challenges really challenging compared to continuous grind.

What'd you guys think?

Anyone? Or we love grinding and only grinding the same matches over and over?

Waiting to see what they are going to do with PVE. Challenges are mixed bag with me. Stuff is nice, but the game play that comes to the fore isn't

Can't wait for PvE, though it'll be PvP for a while so if we can get something along the lines of WoT's Personal missions but even more in-def that'll be awesome. The thing I dislike most of the challenges is that it's all just grind, grind, grind, grind. That is what I think needs other motives like ones I mentioned of Urbie and Mordor. People wouldn't hate Mordor every time if they got some chance to get free camo and colors. ;)

Perhaps separate 1v1 queue for those who love their e-peens and hate their temmates?

What does this have to do with what I just suggested?

I believe Russ said Solaris is right after PvE or vice versa; both will be just as big if not bigger than CW's start. Can't wait for both!

I like the idea of daily challenges, the challenge ideas you have are cool, but a little overly complex. I think the reward system just needs more flavor. Cbills for legging a light at max speed, "I said HOLD STILL" Or extra cbills for solo killing an assault as a light. "Goliath down." Extra cbills for a component destruction that removes 60%+ of a mech's alpha. "Neutered." You could go on and on with these simple ideas, and maybe we'd make a tad more cbills? Oh wait they don't want that...

Doesn't have to be quite daily but maybe to replace/add-on to the challenges given on each weekend these can supplement/take-over. These work fine too, mine could be too hard to code or too specific to implement, though yeah at least maybe something extra. The thing I noticed on each challenge is that it's not really skill, but rather grinding over and over until you get it. These at least give a bit more flavor (and maybe light que won't have 1% each time I play. :))

They are balancing out C-bills and all, but we'll have to see.

I'd like them to refresh the achievements list with some more short-term goals.

But yeah, more frequent challenges and a greater variety of goals would be nice.

Ey... ey PGI would you care to say of this eh?

I will submit this as a question to Russ, as I would love to see this out instead of what is as of now. I like free stuff... but it's grindy rather than a challenge. And we already had a mark 2.

The daily x2 XP is a daily perk/challenge to get a win in the mech...

Urbanmech should come with built in c-Bill and XP boost just for launching in it. Mastering Locusts was bad and Adders was almost as bad. Urbie will bring a whole new level of suffering.

Survive a match in an Urbanmech challenge!

yeah more in-depth challenges.
how about your faction offering you daily contracts, like kill so many kurita affiliated pilots or leg so many mechs per day or get a head shot. more things to involve you and make you feel like the contract is more than just a flag to fight under.

Also, why not the occasional CW only Weekend challenge, to bring more people into CW for a bit.

also, bit off topic, but why not change the 2x bonus for mastered mechs to a 2x Cbills bonus? just a thought

We do not want a WOT like personal mission reward system. It has been seriously criticized by the WOT community for good reason, it encourages bad (read: farming) gameplay. Players in MWO already dislike weekend challenges with odd requirements because they affect player behavior which can result in unfun matches. Now imagine an unending list of challenges to grind through that never go away with multiple players per match playing in a way they normally would not... bad idea. I'm sure posters here can provide good examples of missions that would avoid or mitigate such behavior, but we all know what we get would be anything but that. Both PGI and WG have shown many examples of what they believe are good formulas for challenges, much to the chagrin of the player base.

I like the idea that achievements get a bump in rewards, similar to the upgrade Loyalty Rewards, allowing people to reach that point in their own time.

We can actually make the survive one.... in a stock engine. :P Actually can be a challenge already. Yes, I like the daily XP, but I think if it's possible maybe some unique set of challenges for a set (or not set) time, and reach a certain goal.

I think should be XP + C-bills doubled both to appease both crowds. Daily-weekly contracts/events is soooooo worth (stuff like that is what everyone wants I think). We do need it, hopefully Tukayyid would be cool.

I really want to have challenges that are what they are; challenges should be a few demonstrative matches of real knowledge/piloting or gunnery skills in combat. Grinding is boring, but will regardlessly be part of the game. Sure they can loosen the requirements for adding some grind but I think the grind should really be the attempts in trying to beat the challenge. The personal missions in WoT may not be a good reference, but they had at least a partial idea on where to go. I think PGI can develop beyond that and sooner than later we can see some special events beyond the grindy ones.

<_< No.

In-def as in more specific, so as in more "challenge" rather than grind. Like using that Urbie in a special way/achievement or playing in mordor with a specific strat.

I'd like to see anything that's actually a challenge and not just a grind-fest. The Victor challenge was the closest thing to actually being difficult, but even that was really just a grind. Getting 1 kill and 1 assist is really easy, you just have to play enough games so that you win, which should take about 50 or so (if the MM is working correctly you win 50% of your games).
