I have viewed all the vedios for Mechwarrior Online I could and I noticed something. When the heavily tonned mech walks into a set of trees, there is no cracking of wood outside the cockpit. I know, its a small thing, not very important and could very well be in the final game. To me at least it made the mechwarrior games immersive. Maybe in this game the trees will be saved..

yes stomping trees and setting fire to the forest.

Im actually hoping for a planned upgrade to a lot of the sounds in the game because all the pew pew and buzzing will probably mess with my ears... How about a waterfall in a map so you can have a sound dampener. And bird sounds like they are scared and flying away when you enter trees I would also prefer to hear a soundtrack that beats my all time favorite war game sound track. CnC RA 1&2. If not im making some new mp3 copies from my cds. Yes the 4 pack that was special best buy give away years ago ;P

Ok well this is what i was just going to post. So, instead of making a new thread i just wanted to my input in.
While watching the videos of MWO...I noticed when a laser rakes across the trees, the trees just stay there. So, making those threes get cut in half when you shoot at them would add to the ambiance of the game in a big way. and also running over them should just push them over(unless the tree is too big then you run into them and get stopped, maybe take some damage, and the bigger mechs should be able to knock over bigger trees)
and maybe make some trees catch on fire. So, when you walk by them you don't lose heat as fast(opposite of walking through water)
Obviously i realize this is still in beta, but i just wanted to add my opinion.

This is my first post here. And I agree.
I'm a gamer artist from way back (I played the Battletech board game when it first came out), and visually speaking, those trees have to fall over like matchsticks when my Atlas stomps through a forest or I will feel under-whelmed. The physics of the world doesn't have to be all-reacting to the presence of my Mech, but those trees gotta move, shake and timber like big-robot just walked by. It's just good, big-robot fun that way.

Well to be honest, the sounds in the current released videos seem kinda bland. I had hoped for some autocannon/lbx with a bit more well ompf to it. Shooting an AC20 should sound and feel like you fire something big - at the moment in the videos it doesn't.
Had hoped for a PPC that emitted loud electric noise for .5 sec before discharging the shot ... heck that even makes the "minimum distance" viable as you have to anticipate for that slight delay between hitting fire, and actually discharging the PPC. hard to do close range

At this point, you can have weapons which do damage, or breakable trees.
Obviously, some of you are going to vote for breakable trees at this point, because this is the internet. You are crazy people.

To clarify my suggestion, and to give an example, World of Tanks has a great tree-topple effects. Dramatic and functional, with tactical possibility ta-boot.
