I had an idea on how a PvE element would help new players to the game, giving them a sandbox to cut their teeth on, so to speak, before graduating to the Main multi player. I understand that what im suggesting is a long way from developement, as there is still a lot to do in other areas, but see what you think.
My idea started with how to make choosing a contract have more of an impact on game play. I first thought that maybe they could offer you daily Challenges, such as kill so many of this faction or that faction, or destroy so many components, etc.
Then I thought about them offering you contracts to take specific worlds in CW, which lead me to think of small PvE (even PvP at this size wouldnt feel too bad) Lance sized games, on the worlds around the rest of the map, that had small impacts on the CW some how.
For example, if a clan lance did, lets say, a recon on a FRR planet, that faction could see what contracts were being run against them, for however long.
Then I saw posts for a better new player Experaince and wondered how people would like this idea. If new players did these side missions exclusively for a set number of games, it would allow them to get to know the controls, how their mech works, and generally get the feel of the game, with out getting stomped on for your first 100 or so games.
A better tutorial could be a scripted first contract, like in MW2:mercs , where you went on a standard escort with an AI lance, and had AI enemies, and where talked through the mission, and basic controls, skills, heat management, and were told where to shoot (kill the meat, save the metal was his phrase if i recall, implying that a head shot was best), were all explained by an AI lance leader.
Thanks for reading, let me know what you think
Edit: Also I just realised that this would give another meaning to all those planets that arent on the frontline, which would bring the map alive a bit! lol
