Here's what I want to know:
- What's the most beautiful Inner Sphere mech in-game (not counting concept art, fan art, etc)
- What's the most beautiful Clan mech in-game (not counting concept art, fan art, etc)
For me?
I absolutely LOVE the Founder Hunchback's looks.
It's brutal, like an A10, like you say for the Catpult. But it's such a detailed and ingenious reinterpretation of the source material. The non Founders ...the head just doesn't do it for me. But I love love love the HBK-4G(F)
(I once would have voted for the K2..... before the Itty Bitty PPC Barrel Scandal)
For Clan Mechs?
Hands down, the Summoner Prime. I was leery of the concept art, being to stout, too bubble headed..... but the Modelers hit a home run for me. But it has to be the stock prime. ANy other weapon load just looks wrong.
would still like it a little skinnier, but overall....

For clan... Stormcrows are actually really neat looking. But no, it's the Maddog, hands down.

The Commando is perhaps the only mech in MWO that I chose not to play because it looked too ugly (entirely due to animations)

Not at all. I didn't want to bring Joe down, but to me that Monster Truck style has no place in MWO. Every time I see one on the battlefield, I feel like it looks out of place.

For me, PGI has perfectly executed what I always liked about Mechwarrior. It's not anime, it's gritty and dirty in machines made for war and not the catwalk.
Well, there seems to be two dominant styles in robots if you look at sci-fi art after 2010 or so. One style is the Transformers style. Very complex shapes, just a lot of angles, very menacing, like a Lamborghini Veneno. The other style is the Elysium robot style, very low tech and functional, pragmatic designs that don't look too humanoid.
MWO has sort of found its own style, which looks modern without falling into either of the two camps above. But you can see it sometimes borrows from them, especially if you look at all the hydraulics on the King Crab, the simple mechanical shape of the Raven's legs, and the rather Transformer-esque hipjoints on the Highlander.
The only MWO mechs that were a disappointment to me, were the Dire Wolf (they made the cockpit comically big, like a Boeing 747 cockpit) and the Gargoyle Invasion variant (aka fat chinese kid).

Most beautiful IS mech? That depends; before or after PGI ruined the appearance of half of them?
