Most of my names follow themes among the same chassis. So all my Hellbringers are named after the Lords of Hell. My Timberwolves are named after wolves in books I've read.

I name my mechs after elements. It was pretty easy at first, but then I had to come up with progressively weirder reasons for naming them after said element.

WALL OF TEXT MECHS CHEM101 INCOMING

LCT-1E -- Hydrogen. Fairly obvious, it's the lightest. Will have to rename it to Tritium if I get more Locusts.
COM-1B -- Lithium. Lightest metal, floats on water. Really fast characters can run across water in cartoons. The Commando is the fastest mech in the game. Yeah.
SDR-5V -- Helium. The 5V is a freaking balloon. That's what it is. A balloon with MPLs.
RVN-4X -- Rubidium. I generally run my 4X with 71 pts of armor. It isn't hard to turn it into a flaming blob, just like Rubidium.

FS9-H -- Oxygen. Kinda hard to start a fire without Oxygen. Unless...

FS9-A -- Fluorine. Even better! Though, it can be tricky getting it over to whatever you're destroying.
JR7-K -- Yttrium. Used in Nd:YAG crystals, which are sometimes used in pulse lasers. Sorta useless otherwise, just like the 7-K.
JR7-F -- Xenon. Used in flashlamps, which are sometimes used to drive lasers.

JR7-D -- Mercury. Fast runner, or deadly metal? Both! Also my favorite mech, so it deserves the name of my favorite transition metal.
JR7-O -- Osmium. Oxide was a slug when it first came out, so I named it after the densest element. Still deserves its name, as Osmium tetroxide is dang poisonous.

HBK-4P -- Gallium. Used in diode lasers. Also melts easily, just like my XL Hunchback with too many pulse lasers.
CN9-D -- Copper. Flexible, beautiful (less so since the geometry 'fix') and takes a beating really well.
CN9-AH -- Palladium. Palladium doesn't tarnish. Neither does the AH, which performs just as well as I remember it doing in CB.
CTF-2X -- Magnesium. This is my rage mech. For when my hatred for Stormcrows burns hotter than anything short of Magnesium.
CTF-3D -- Iron. Ferromagnetism or something. I'm boring and use gauss in this thing.
CTF-4X -- WWWWWWWWW... Used to be named Tungsten. Long-time players should understand the humor behind the change.

Very disappointed I haven't found a mech appropriate to be named Carbon. It just feels wrong putting my lump of coal cockpit item in any other mech.

I call my HBK-4G "Old Faithful" and my COM-TDK "Speedboat." Nothing else has a name, though I really should give one to my CN9-AH since it's my favorite and top performer.

I did have a triple AMS/ECM KFX-Prime that I called "Lurmbrella" but I sold it when I got Crabs.

For the mechs I have not much love, they get more names to identify them:
Or just names that come into my mind.

my first mech, the DDC was named Big Al, because of the MW3 intro.

little dakka: 6 UAC 2 DWF

Dakka wolf: 6 UAC 5 DWF

Big Dakka: 2 AC 20 DWF with Some pulslasers.

wubwubwolf/hawk: when it has pulses and depending on the mech using them its getting the mehc as suffix..

Hive command: ADR with 4xsrm6

For Science: NVA -S(cience) which I use for tesing new builds

Party Service: KFX with narc, tag, 3 ams and ecm, for full party support.

Thunderhawk - the 4 PPC WHK.

Laz0r doggy: MDD with 2 LPL and 3 CERML

Its mad Bro: 6srms6 MDD with CERML

good boy: 6 lrm5+A MDD with CERML

POW crow: LBX 20 SCR

otherwise my PPC mechs are named Capacity.

and my Golden Nova is named Lilyzm Gold

Strangely my NVA Prime(I) and TBR Prime(I) do not have any names so far, they are both laserboats, but I have not found any name so far I found proper for them, but I use them quite often. Would like to name more after Lily songs but I hardly can find proper song names fitting to the mechs or their loadout.

Good thing I haven't pressed f9 or had overwolfe running. Didn't want to show the world my 2 fps in max settings

Here's mine.
CPLT-C4, Cat gurls
JM6-DD, Supposed to be Eren YeagerMech, but I had to condense it down to 12 charcaters
SDR-5K, I noticed that there were custom Mech names when you pressed q (Didn't realized they were Hero Mechs) so I thought if I named my SDR-5K as "BIG BAD DAWG", people might assume that this is a heavy/Assault
SDR-5D, I rack originarity!
CN9-A(C), I was looking for a Roman name, I liked the name Felix
HBK-4P, named after Reiterpallasch from Armored Core 4 (or FA, I can't remember). Her craft is mainly laser based
TDR-9S, I got FF13 when I received the 9S, named after the protagonist, Lightning
SDR-5V, Like the 5D, I rack originarity. My second 5V since I sold my first one panicking and stuff
TBT-7K, Looking for a French name, really loved the name Sylvia
Daishi, I'm a freebirth, it's DAISHI! It's not a direwolf, IT IS THE GREAT DEATH! Besides, MW3 (aka my fav game of my childhood) designation was Daishi
JM6-DD, Named after a friend of mine

My 162 mechs all have chassis-grouped names of various degrees of silliness and/or homage.

For instance, my Cataphracts are Peter Rabbit, Cottontail, Thumper and Flopsy. My Thunderbolts are Bon, Scott, Brian, Malcolm and Angus. My Jenners are Nixie, Pixie, Brownie, Sprite, Hob, Puck and Gremlin. Etc.

I name mine after Transformers.

IS mechs are Autobots.
Clan mechs are Decepticons.

The best is when I can get close to the color scheme. And when I have a few variants of same chassis and can name them after the cheap clone TFs. Ahh the 80s.

I use all Transformers names as well. Currently the only colors I own are black and decepticon purple.
