Ok my radeon hd 7770 just died.

I have a 400 watt PSU in my pc and I was wondering what would be a good replacement card?

I know that MWO is very cpu intensive. Knowing that, my system has that end of the game covered. What I wanted to know is what card could I get for around $200-$300 that will run on a 400 wat PSU and will work well for MWO. And also not be a heat hog. Honestly, I guess I am being lazy. But I just don't want to replace the PSU. I have researched several video cards and they all seem to require a 450w or higher PSU. I could upgrade the PSU for around $90 to a 600w PSU but I don't really want to.

Any suggestions?

I use a Nvidia 770 windforce. Basically just a 770 with 3 fans on it. Had to upgrade my power supply to a 500W, but overall it cost me about 300$. plus most newer cards will need a higher power supply. Runs cool and can handle almost any game max. (assuming they actually built it for PC and didn't pay some 3 man korean team 5 bucks to port it)

I would think you would be ok to put one of the new GTX 960's in there without having to upgrade your PSU.

Edit: fat finger spelling error

I upgraded my old 650ti to a GTX 970 last month and it's amazing. The 970 may be a little too expensive for you (not sure what the exchange rate is £>$) but the GTX 960 which has just come out should be perfect for you.

The new Nvidiea Graphics cards also use less power than bafore so power-wise, you're golden!

Out of interest, when I got my 760 it was the 'go-to' all-rounder card. Good price, great performance, fairly low power consumption and good temperatures - what is that card now? The 960?

GTX 760 is fine for a 1080 monitor.

Unfortunately before you think about the "new" 960 you should look at the comparison to the 750-760gtx/TI

Unfortunately it isn't worth the $ when you can get a 750TI for around $100

ok I keep seeing the 750ti popping up. But most of the info I find on that card states that it is around the same performance as the hd 7770. Also that it has drivers issues with MWO? Has that changed and has the 750 ti been improved in performance?

Realistically, you probably need a new power supply. 400w is pretty small these days. I have a 1000w in my rig, and I'm just running a GTX770.

Pretty much this, 400w is fairly light for a gaming PC, one of my first major upgrades that turned the 98 spec compaq into the rig that it is today was a 750w psu.
