The current damage mitigation provided by missile doors (only 10%) means that most players just walk around with the doors open.

If damage was mitigated by a higher value - say, 20% - it would give players more of a reason to actively manage whether doors are open or closed.

Your view?

Actually, as far as i know, the bonus damage resistance that USED to be provided by closed missile doors has been removed, some time ago.

There's absolutely no reason to not have them open 24/7 now (apart from looking dumb).

Oh yes. I remember when PGI first showed the Archer bay door opening animation in Instagram, people ****** in their pants from excitement. Now it just looks super silly when opened. Especially since it further handicaps a mech that has stupidly low cockpit. Stupidly. Low. Cockpit. MWO is a FPS game, not a bloody TT game. Archer cockpit should be raised.

I always thought it was only versus internal damage anyways, wasn't it?

Archer should have had its own hit bkxes on the doors like Russ tweeted it would. I bought it because of this as I knew the sides would fall off like the maddog.

In the end we got nothing. I screwed up and should have asked for a refund due to. Russ never answered any of the questions relating g to this before release.

I wish I could apply a decal to the inside of the doors, which could be seen as the doors raised.

A giant middle finger.

Remember, not to long ago, the reason the Kintaro couldn't be CT killed was because it had 100% damage reduction?

Some mechs still have it

But was it caused by the missile doors though?
Because i'm pretty sure not all kintaros have missile doors in the CT, but ,if i recall correctly, all were affected.

Honestly, I wish missile doors functioned like the King Crab's weapon covers and actually acted quickly. On my catapult, the doors take seemingly half a second to open. That's the difference between landing 12 SRMs on a light or missing the shot. On the King Crab, they fly open nearly instantly.

The missile door mechanic is a very good element in a slow-paced Battletech game. But in the current state of MWO, where every heavy mech and assault mech is running at 89 kph minimum, with 150 point burst damage in 2 seconds, it's more of a hindrance than anything cool or useful.

It's fun to have a CPLT or Stalker or Centurion with additional protection when missile doors are shut, but in those cases where you forget to open the doors before-hand, that 0.2 second delay is probably going to kill you.

It would be different if MWO had huge maps like MW:LL, and the extra protection and smaller profile from having the doors closed was valuable when you were moving unseen through the terrain. But MWO is just an arena shooter with tiny maps, basically.

missile doors should be their own "component" like arms etc that have their structure and health and gets blown off. Would add a lot of immersion.

Open missile bay doors should get blown off in pretty much one hit without counting as any component damage. It's just a thin sheet metal cover for crying out loud.
