Running Win 8.1
I3 @3.4 Ghz, 16GB Ram, GTX 650, on SSD.

Every. single. time. I try to get into a match, My network traffic spikes in task manager, and the system locks up as if under extreme load. if I give it like 15 minutes, it'll kick me back to the mechlab eventually.

Basically the map screen shows up with the circling yellow thing, and that stops (whole system is unresponsive at this point) but about one time each minute the yellow circle will move a little, then freeze. Rinse-repeat till I believe match ends and the game kicks back to mechlab with "You have been disconnected from the game server."

I can then start a match again to go through the same thing, about 8/10 matches happen this way.

This is recent, it just started last week. This most recent patch took it from 1/10 games this happened to me, to, as i've said, 8/10 now. Nothing has changed

I thought it might have been avast, so I uninstalled it for MSE instead. No change, I tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling it. No change I even put my computer in DMZ. Nothing I do works.

Is anyone else having this issue?

What motherboard are you using?

Are you using onboard NIC? (Have you tried using an add-in NIC?)

Do you have any problems playing other games?

Are you overclocking?

ASUS P8Z77-V

Yes, I use the Onboard Nic, No I don't have access to an Add in NIC

Also: due to the issues I was having, yesterday, I attempted an update for the NIC drivers, this update caused no change in behavior.

I do not have any issues with any other game I play nor websites, nor connected server programs such as Teamspeak, (I run a Local Server for a friend while we play)

This System cannot be overclocked in it's current state.

That's a really strange problem.

The best advice I can think of is go to your control panel and clear your system event logs for application and system. The next time you get a crash, write down what time you crashed and when the system recovers, check what the event log says.

It's not a literal crash, they system does not actually freeze, It becomes unusable and network traffic goes ballistic for 10-15 minutes.

Think a DDoS attack essentially, the system gets so bogged down dealing with network traffic it has no ability to do anything else.

It's only been completely unusable since THIS patch (Tuesday) I'm going to attempt swapping routers as I've gotten a new one about 2 weeks ago, maybe that's the issue. If it is, I'll have to return my router. I'll update if this helps. If it does Not, I know it's not me.

It's your driver\system problem.
go to your NIC preferences and try to configure it.
Try to turn off the QoS and try to configure adapter itself.

No difference. Still have issue. after disabling the QoS in windows, it's also disabled on the router in options, I've never adjusted QoS and wouldn't anyway unless I absolutely need to for something. It's overhead. But thanks for the help anyhow, the effort is appreciated.

Update: I switched routers. Same exact problem. Having literally just updated the network drivers, there should be a difference in how the game functions. As I've said, it WAS working before this patch, reliably.

Something they did to fix another bug made a new one. No other game gives me this problem, no other service gives me this problem. I'm down to the software. The game has a problem, it has to. If it doesn't, well I guess I don't play till I get Windows 10 because I'm not reinstalling 150 games because one doesn't work.

I've got this problem too. I don't think I've ever waited for 15 minutes to see what happens. It's basically a mandatory restart of the PC with how bad it locks up. I can alt tab out and try to do stuff but the PC is barely responsive, often taking seconds to do the most simple tasks.

Also, I can't close MWO with task manager or procexp, or even from a command line with pskill from sysinternals. Nothing can end the process.

It does take down my network because people see me drop out of mumble.

Like OP, I've got hundreds of other games that all run flawlessly on this box.

Specs:
Win 8.1
i7 - some ivy bridge chip
GTX 780 Ti
Onboard NIC (intel)

You are not alone - I'm having the very same problem. Wasn't able to get into a single (!) match for a solid week now. Uninstalling, reinstalling, updating drivers, network settings and god knows what else did not change anything for me.

In most cases it turns out rather lucky - I don't even get to see the map loading screen, just the connection screen on which the yellow circle eventually stops spinning after a minute and the game kicks me out of the mechlab back to the login screen.

In other cases I experience the same DDoS terror being unleashed on my PC when I happen to reach the map loading screen which freezes and unfreezes for a bloody long time. I never had the nerve to sit through the entire thing and rebooted after 5 to 7 minutes because the system was completely unresponsive during that time - or simply cut the power to my router.

I can mess around in the mechlab just fine, shoot standing targets on training grounds as well... anything else not so much.

No issues with any other online games or my connection in general. It's only in MWO.

Another thing that might be worth mentioning: I'm from Germany. I somehow get the feeling this might be relevant.

I'm in the US. Specifically, NY.

It's relieving to know I'm not the only one having the issue.

Are you on windows 8.1 by chance? because Plasma is too.

That would be a common link between us.

Mh... I'm running MWO on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit so that shouldn't be the problem.

Hardware wise I can also rule out faulty equipment or some terrible bottlenecks on my side. Router is a few months old, stable connection in general. Nothing overclocked. No backyard engineering.

Specs:
GTX 680
i7-3770 @ 3.40GHz
16GBs of ram

Yeah. No. This is not it.

The thing that really bothers me is that I stopped playing for a few weeks, was all pumped to get at it again and activated my saved premium time... Just to not be able to get any matches and leaving empty mechs everywhere. Q_Q

I'm really out of ideas what is happening.

The only thing I've seen which might be a clue is a lot of resent packets in wireshark on my end.

I'd hoped this was tied to 8.1, but I guess it isn't.

That's it. I give up.

Cannot get a single bloody game at all. No matter what I do or try, it just won't let me join a match without that obscure connection error message that logs me out or the DDoS freeze if I happen to reach the map loading screen.
