It will bring new players yes... but without proper tutorials it won't retain very many.
Also refer to the Town Hall Meetings. They are not making a new tutorial video until the revisions to the current front end are finished. And they're not releasing on Steam until that is ready.

There is zero need for a new tutorial video. Tutorial videos don't teach new players squat. Seeing and doing are how new players are gonna learn this game. Russ also talked about getting AI up and running in the Town Hall, but its's not a priority. Hopefully they integrate this into the current in game tutorial when it goes live. IMO, this needs to be done before a Steam release, but I doubt that will happen. Russ seems eager to get on Steam before the Summer and they still have a lot of work to do before they can release it there(NPE, Maps for CW, Revamping the UI, etc).
Posting about the town hall 3 times in one thread and assuming that it holds all the answers to every question/concern is kind of annoying. You are not the only person to read/listen to it.

Guess we will find out. Going to be chaotic for sure. F2P games are like candy on steam, everybody wants some.

Right now there is no Weapons tutorial. Also the current tutorial is dull and easily skipped through. People are going to skip the tutorial once they realize it is all text boxes. Also if they are using a joystick you can accidentally skip through all the good in depth information it does have.
No the game can not go without a good weapons tutorial, because half the frustration in this game is caused by not understanding different weapon systems, which could be easily explained in a simple short Tutorial mission with voice acting.
Also the tutorial is a chance to add in some much needed Player Versus Computer content. They could test the new turret systems and tank AI's out in the tutorial without angering their audience.
Player retention is based off of how well and how quickly you can teach the players how to play.
Nothing is more frustrating than being interested in a game you will never understand.

A MechWarrior 2 or MechWarrior 3 style tutorial would be a step forward. I don't know who did the voice for the MFB commander in MW3, but they were brilliant.
