Sure, but if kills and assists were the same both would be rewarded, not just the worst player...

An players would not bother with team work at all. Cause Urmgurd KILLZ4DAWIN would rule. I understand what you want, but it would not help the game and it would make it even more difficult for teh majority of players to even earn 20 MC.

I see what you mean but it is an attempt to reward "team work" instead of individual success, I don't say it is doing it correctly, and it is getting gamed, But the logic is coming from the right place. If more players worked together there would be more players earning more MC. ANd lets face it the ME generation did not end with

Honestly, I'm playing "spray and prey" style this weekend.
First 10 macthes I got only one cockie, despite tons of dmg and kills.

Yes, teamwork is the king, we know... but k=assist, I think it would be fair.
teamwork----> only one can have the kill but a few pilot can help and have the assist.
But with a normal teamwork you cannot shoot to everyone, just to have at least 6 assists, because of focus fire!

I understand. But I do understand the opposite train of thought as well. A little less for assists and a little more for wins could be a good alternative, but as I normally get more assists than kills, Making Kills worth more actually takes the Challenge out of my reach. I am not against it on a personal note but I do think that as it is I have a chance of earning 2000 MC. IF I didn't have to work this weekend. ;)

A don't spray and leave either, So I know I will not earn 1,920 MC tomorrow. B)

I am really not having a problem with this setup... none at all.

I hit every enemy at least once,
I kill 1 enemy
I take all other enemies to OJ no armor ct then start stripping legs, arms and leave them for my team-mates.

Doing this I helped one of the newbies on my team get their first head-shot kill on an atlas with no arms, right or left torso and only 1 leg.

It makes aiming and knowing what you are doing far more important....and it feels nice spreading the kills around.

And every mechwarrior should practice legging mechs -- its a valuable skill.

BTW I had one match where I didn't get my MC with 7 kills -- I had to clean up the battered enemy at the end of the match -- It was refreshing for me to say "Shut-up and let me get you your MC" to the back-mech drivers. (failed on the hit every mech once challenge)

I've found myself taking my finger off the button when it's an assured kill, waiting for someone else to get the kill.

i don't think they intended for those of us who get regular multiple kills per match to actually spare the enemy.
I know it's only a few pence per win but, hell, i like to win.

The whole idea is to encourage team play instead of op killing 2 mechs before killing yourself by overheating. This will also be useful in CW .Instead of jumping ahead of the group to get a kill (and getting rear ct critted out by teammates) you 'll be more likelly to stay together and kill collectively. This is what wins CW matches.

I have to disagree a bit here, my point as well as the OP I think, is that assists should always be worth exactly the same as kills. The logic is that, yes - you do want assists to be a driving metric to grant lights and support mechs an equal chance of the cookie, BUT you cannot have assists if you don't have kills. Therefore, someone has do deal the killing blow and that guy should not be penalized by -10 points. It does not compute and it does not promote team play....

As long as kills are worth exactly the same as assists, it doesn't matter to the team who scores the kill, only thing that matters is that it dies. That way the goal for the individual is the same as the goal for the team. If someone is promoting more score for damage done however, then I am totally with you!
