(From mechassault)
Which mechs would you guys like to see return from older games?

Edit: flame shield is now active
Edit2: upgraded to double heat syncs to resist possible flaming I may get hit by
Edit3: freed up some space, now carrying extra heat syncs in case of a flamer attack

the Assassin.
40 tons, 118 kph stock speed, 7 JJs of goodness, Missiles and LAsers. My favorite mech in MW2 Mercs

There was a particular Battlemech, a Medium if I remember correctly who was in Mechwarrior IV mercenaries.

He was chicken legged and had missiles weapons on him... His name was I believe related to hounds, hells or something like that.
But he wasn't humanoid in design...

Definitely the Cougar. I remember the first time I saw a screenshot from MW4. It was similar to this one, showing a Cougar from the side, jump jetting. And its legs were hanging down, feet limp, like a flying bird. I was just mesmerized, because in MW2 the mechs would basically just float around when you activated jump jets.

How can you describe the awesomeness of the Cougar?
  • Take the coolest looking Clan light mech, the Puma / Adder.
  • Replace its head with the cockpit of an F-15 Eagle
  • Give it jump jets
  • Replace PPCs with Large Wub wubs
  • Throw on 2xLRM10 just because you can

Cougar and Shadowcat. When those mechs are released, I may as well sell all my other Clan mechs. Won't be needing them.

I've been dieing to get my hands on a Shadow Cat since MWO started and the Cougar would be icing on the cake :-)

Hellhound; it didn't resemble the boardgame Hellhound/Conjurer at all though.

Here's the MW4 version:
Spoiler

And the boardgame version (Unseen now):
Spoiler

And the new artwork for it (Reseen):
Spoiler

The MW4 version didn't resemble the boardgame version in weapons either, being armed with 2x ER Large Laser, 1x LBX10 and 1x Streak SRM6, versus the 1x Large Pulse, 2x ER Medium and 2x Streak SRM2 on the boardgame version.

The MW4 version did have the same 50 ton weight though... but everything else was different.

Hellhound most likely, though there was also the Arctic Wolf, I think, in the clan expansion pack

MWO is set in 3049/3050 at this time

Get yourself a copy of this:

If it's in there, it's OK.

If it's not in there, You might as well be asking for unmanned stealth drones in a World War II game.

uziel yes
cougar YES
ragnarok YESSSSSSSSSSS

Ragnarok is 100 tons, engine weighs 10 tons and 30 tons of armor. Its max speed is 32 kph and engine is locked. The lava canon should weigh 10 tons cause a lot of heat and have the projectile move slower than an ac20 but no bullet drop so you cant bombard artillery style. The weapon will deal a lot of splash damage so don't get hit! this mech should be very expensive lets say somewhere around 50 mill c-bill ohhh yeahh and the hero variant the Ymir should only be accessible via real money of cost of 500$. This mech should probably be released once all the other mechs are. Sort of like the endgame mech. good topic zeta44.

there's also a lot of clan mechs that "show up" (they already existed before 3050) just in time for the battle Tukayyid.

best method to determine if it would be in the game... unfortantly they could not include everything in the TROs so there are mechs that have dates predating the Year of the TRo that they appear in due to many diffrent reasons.

The Assassin evokes very fond memories for me from my old MW2 Mercenaries days.

The Javelin and the Mongoose are both great lights.

The Bushwacker is perhaps my most eagerly anticipated upcoming mech.

The Cyclops and Annihilator are both classics that I'd love to see.

That's TRO3050 Upgrade, which includes a lot of variants from the 3060s.
There are also mechs in later TROs that were introduced before or around 3050, like the Bushwacker and Merlin.

Even then, the Devs have said they aren't gonna be religious in obeying the timeline restrictions. If there is something they want to add that is from later on, they'll add it anyway.

Absolutely right, but with these people whose only foray into the Mechwarrior setting is through computer games made by microsoft and set 10-20 years after the clan invasion, They couldn't tell an Urbanmech from an Uziel. You put something like this on the table, and make a point, and hopefully they'll start to realize that there's actually some history and a setting to the Battletech/Mechwarrior universe, not just a hodgepodge of "Whatever looks cool" as though there was no backstory any of us have cared about for several decades of our lives.

Part with badly animated helicopter cutscene

and then I never played it again.

Oh, a mech I'd like to see?

Well, uhh....

I dunno, a Fafnir? It's gonna be a couple years but hey, I can wait.

Frankly I just want mech mortars.

I love the Cougar!

I loved the Cougar when I played it in Mech Commander.

Many remember it from Mechwarrior 4 or Mechassault (two games I never played). I stopped playing PC games for a while so MW3 was the last game I played. I never played Mechassault because I always had PlayStation's.

I worry about the Cougar in MWO. It's a light mech, but slower like the other Clan lights (I think it was an upgraded design to the Adder). It may be a bit slow. It will have decent firepower though.

I am also waiting for the Bushwacker. I'm also a bit Leary about that mech when it comes to hard points, but I like that mech too. We can always use more IS chicken walkers with airplane shaped torsos.
