With windows 10 going to be a free upgrade for windows 7 and 8 I can imagine as long as there are no major bugs people will start adopting the new OS very quickly.
I guess my feature suggestion would be windows 10 comparability by the time the consumer release comes out.

W10 is going to be garbage like the rest of their OS that we had to be forced to upgrade(or more like downgrade) to(I hate all of the later Windows).
lets leave it as is unless it is unavoidable as we don't need to be forced to keep going with more garbage OSs from M$.
as it is I am going back to 7 as its the closets to XP they have that isn't Visita.

I hate all later windows and as long as we are not forced to move to w10 then by all means go for it, but it shouldn't be shoved in our faces.

As to game support, I doubt they will need to do much unless Divx gets upgraded along with the Windows OS. To be honest they might not even need to do anything other than continue work on improving the 32-bit and 64-bit clients.

so as long as MWO never requires w10 then we are all good.

@VinJade
There's something else going on there. I use win 8.1 (before that I had win 8) and I've had no OS related problems with MWO. You should rly give win 10 a try if it's really less of a resource hog than 8 even (and 8 is by no mean's a resource hog). Win vista was hated for it's security on every thing and the fact it chewed up system resources like a pig in heat. Oddly enough Windows 7 is based off win vista kernel and as such it's far more resource hoggy than win 8 or 8.1. Seriously past the metro junk windows 8 is vastly superior than windows 7 in every way that matters for gaming, stop drinking the win 7 fanboy haterade windows 8 is not that terrible It's far far better than vista in every measureable way, I personaly think it's better than widows 7 where it counts (resource usage).

though I was tempted to go for Linux however MWO doesn't work on Linux nor does half of the things I use which would have meant going to VM.

If you have windows vista,or windows 8.1 I would upgrade to 10, because they are terrible anyway.
I have windows 8.1 so I'm upgrading.
If you have windows xp,7 or even 8.0 i would keep them, whatever you do dont upgrade 8 to 8.1 on a laptop as it replaces all drivers and for a general user could break your PC for gaming until you fix integrated wireless drivers.
For a desktop honestly you can run what you want if your using 8 I would consider updating to 10 when its not an early release.
in general windows xp and windows 7 are the best os's to come from Microsoft ever. so dont bother upgrading those unless you dont like them for some reason (ex using a tablet). You wont get a more stable os and your games wont run noticeably better or have more compatibility.
Security wise 7 and xp are really a non issue. third party antivirus and some tweaks as well as a incredibly stable os make these already less likely to have a exploit or bug. and the less popular they are the less malware will be made for them.

For the most part yes the base code will be the same but between all versions of windows (even ultimate vs basic) there are quarks that software sometimes has a problem running correctly. I am just wondering if PGI will be ready for the change when it comes because for a new windows OS to be free it may be adopted very quickly by gamers if it is superior to win 7/8.

It installs over what is already there so no need for a wipe and re-start, works from the get go with the tech preview and in my eyes (gamer system) looks better, runs smoother and even dxdiag says DX12 is enabled (being a trial sort of build).
Still I've had no problems and would easily recomend taking the upgrade, plus DX12 is NOT going to work on lower windows (Just like dx11.2 suprise suprise) that was win 8.balls exclusive.
I run a Sabertooth 990fx R2.0. AMD FX8350(Vishera) @ 4916mhz with water cooling (CoolerMaster Nepton XL 140), Corsair vengeance 1600mhz @ 1866mhz, 2X R9 270X 1100/1400mhz and a samsung evo SSD 250gig for the main drive.
After installing over the top of win 7 EVERYthing worked. I didnt have to re-install anything...
I think this time they might have planned ahead and to be fair its doing wonders for my windows confidence.

I recommend finding a Virtual Machine program and using that so you don't have to wipe your drive first.
