I think PGI needs a new incentive program, I was thinking of a Tier system where based on what Tier level of Mech packages you get, they add a Tier of Modules. Gonna put some time into detailing that.
Agreed. A lot of FTP games have a tiered rewards system based on spending to encourage people to spend more to make the next tier while rewarding even the smallest purchasers with a little bonus.
But PGI is a small outfit with limited personnel. You can see it is clearly evident in a lot of things they do. They do not have a good QA/QC system and will make forum announcements with math errors (sale calculations), factual misinformation on their products (such as not putting mechs in proper classes) or set a date/time for sale starts (and it will be delayed). If it was a once in a while whoops, then it would be understandable, but it is almost every single announcement.
A rewards tier system would have to have some people that are capable of understand pricing/cost/value relationship. It is far easier to say, hey, we already made these mechs to give out before, let's just give them out again for people that bought these packages from this date to this end date and call it good. It's easy enough for coders to put that bit of code in to reward the owners. Also using the same rewards doesn't require any more cost from PGI's standpoint. It was a method to generate more cash flow on their end and they justified it by saying they are giving away free stuff. They just didn't really consider that some people actually put a value on digital merchandise other than just monetary. People that had to "earn" some of the mechs the first time around, actually went through some difficulty obtaining them and felt as though their efforts were cheapened by this "sale".
