Griffin's have high launchers that allow for easy firing over obstacles, decent survivability with its shield arm and has significantly better compatability with larger launchers. The SDH is decent, but imo it's not that much better unless your goal is LRM5 spam.

Centurions can sacrifice both arms and one entire torso and still retain their entire firepower, have impressive tube numbers and come with zombie lasers. If you want missile quantity, the Centurion has the Hunchback beat, but you need more strategic twisting.

The ShadowHawk have the launcher high also, but not above the head like the Griffin. When u cover with the SHD u are covered. With the GRF when u cover u are only 90% sure that u are under cover.

In DPS terms: 2xLRM5 >> 1xLRM10.

This is a fact. If u want to really deal dmg with LRMs, u need a LOT of small launchers. This will reduce the time they pass in cooldown, also, allowing u to fire more often, and correcting fire more often also.

And about 50 tonners, im pretty damn sure that u get that using the supposed "shield" side to place the missile tubes in that torso makes a huge diff. The diff is normally, unless that u mainly play just the Centurions or the Griffins -1M and -1S, that have this in the opposite side, that u need to completely twist and offer the back of the mech to the enemy to use the opposite side as shield. This tends to end in ur CenterTorso back armour completely cored and u searching for a wall to place yourself and cover the vulnerability.

This is other fact, cause u will tend to allways follow a preprogramed path that helps u understand the new situation. Its basic conductivism psicology.

Honestly, i would say stick with your Thunderbolts for now.. Seeing you really like your 9S, you should get the unlocks, you won't believe the difference it makes when you unlock all the elites, and that doubles your basics. That said, the TDR-5s Makes a pretty good missile mech. The quirks really let you use anything so SRM's or LRMS.. 15's, or 6's, or 10's, even 20's

But for a nice LRM mech and being familiar with the TDR and how it plays you could try this,.. http://mwo.smurfy-ne...f428f0b01e3b077

I went with MPL's because i think they are better pinpoint,, and the machine gun +MPL's for finishing off mechs with out armor...

To me this would play very similar to my Catapult C1, which i run dual LRM15's and 3 MPL's +tag, the main difference is an XL engine, verse an STD, which lets me carry the 5 extra tubes on each launcher.

You could round out your trio, by adding the 9SE, which is a champion, and the only thunderbolt with JJ's Personally i love this mech with a big XL and JJ's which is what i run. You could do something like Large pulse+bap and streaks for something that would be a unique but fun play style, Or SRM's for more Up close brawling punch..

Of course, then you have the 5SS,, which is the Medium pulse king, i run it with 5, and dual ERLL's an extremely solid mech.

But my advice is to Buy the 5S, and get the champion for that XP bonus.. It is kinda hard to go wrong with that option as you really learn the game.. Put off the 5SS, unless you just fall in love with them, then add it as your 4th while you bask in the thunder-bolt goodness!

If you really want to try a different chassis, to me it is hard to go against the catapult C1, Or for outside the box LRM thinking, the raven 2x with LRM 15, and 4 ML's, with an XL 260.. Though both those mechs really need expensive XL engines to really shine.. so that brings me back to my first suggestion, Stick with the TDR's :)

Reworked that one. It was too low in ammo for the LRMs and lacking BeagleActiveProbe, that in that weight range starts to be a need to be placed. Also added AMS for increased survavility. Dropped 1/2 ton of MG ammo (i doub u are using more than 500 bullets/gun often....if ever) and armour in that arm to fit the changes. Also downgraded the MediumPulseLasers to MediumLasers, that benefit from the mech quirks less, but saves a nasty 3 tons....

TDR-5S
