Ideas For Balancing Cw

Here's my 2c on balancing CW / reining in the Clan Stomping:
  • 10v12, as suggested in another thread by Theaus: 2 Clan Stars vs 3 IS Lances. Supported by lore, would make it a bit harder for clans to stomp IS factions
  • Different tonnage for IS and Clan drop decks. Say, keep the 240t limit for Clans but raise the IS limit to 260t, or dial the clans down to 220t instead.
  • Dramatically increase the rewards for IS factions - not just the rewards for winning, the entire rewards package for playing IS. Anything from 1.3X up to 2X and beyond, so that players aren't faced with a choice between "grinding for C-bills" OR "playing CW".

2 and 3 could be dialed up or down as necessary to balance the faction map.

The one thing I don't have a good answer to is the Hellbringer problem (2-Hellbringer 2-Stormcrow drop deck is permanently invisible). The best I could come up with was:

4. Introduce zones with ECM counters in the maps for IS defenders, specifically to counter the Hellbringer issue. Maybe the gates and Omega installation have fixed ECM system that counters Clan ECM out to 200m at the gates and 500m at the Omega. Or even partially counters it, so that locks take longer but you can still see enemy movement in the covered zone.

you forgot

MERCS CAN'T JOIN CLANS

That would help IS more than anything else in your post.

Otherwise only one of your ideas is really worth it in my opinion and that is the increased rewards. Especially since you mention lore in your post, in terms of dropweight Clans would match the IS defense weight so different drop weights are against lore, by Lore if IS had a company (3 lances) Clans would drop a Trinary (3 Stars) with 3 points (Mechs in this case) sitting on the sidelines observing unless fired upon.

Your last idea, make it targetable like the turrets and I am game.

Your suggestions to fix CW are to limit Clan drops by 660 tons? 2 less players And a 20t penalty?

If you do that to Clams, I would fully expect to have our 150% and 120% heat nerfs reverted, along with gaining 15 PP FLD ERPPCs.


Those are severe suggestions, and the state of balance isn't nearly that outrageous.

Clanners do well less because of their 'Mechs and much more because of the automatic disruption to defenses.

Kill the "any IS faction can defend vs. Clans regardless of world" and suddenly, a lot of the soft PUG wins just up and vanish. IS vs IS is often tougher than IS vs Clan precisely because of this.

How about we don't allow using the same mech more than 1 time in the same drop deck. Without 3 crows or 2timbers clans wouldn't know what to do. Lol

We would need another wave of clan Battlemechs available for that to be feasible. As it Stands now, we have only 13 chassis operating in the Inner Sphere. Fighting against how many IS chassis? 29?

More than that I'd 30 chassis (34 soon) and something like 165 variants.

Oh this topic again. Good luck with your thread OP. People here just don't care or don't want to think outside the box. CW is a failure in my eyes, it has no balancing mechanism to prevent roll overs like what going on now.
