Or the screencap was posted to reinforce the only thing that was said: that Kurita don't care about treaties. Possibly your paranoia is causing your confusion. I guess it's hard to think clearly when you think everything is a Davion plot.

I can confirm that. The Kurita / FRR non aggression pact stand firm from the beginning of CW. It took some time for both sides to fully enforce it, but since then I think we can say that the Kurita / FRR border is the most peacefull border in the Inner Sphere.

No, because that's not how things work. The difference here is that no little girl would get on her high horse about jump rope the way you and mischief and a couple of other fools are about a niche videogame where you drive robots around to change the color of dots on a map. What is the greatest thing that the star league could possibly achieve? turn all the dots the same color? what would that do, in the world, that is good for anyone? the dots dont even impact mechwarrior games. They are irrelevant.

People like you need to step back and get some perspective. This is a really fun game but as soon as you invest it with some sort of drama or importance beyond entertainment you lose me completely.

If your interpretation of his post is correct then he was posting gibberish, since you can't determine how kurita feels about treaties from a screenshot where the opposing sides didn't have a treaty. It's pretty insulting of you to pretend that he's some kind of idiot who doesn't know how to make a coherent argument.

I, (perhaps charitably, he is a Davion after all) assume that he is misinformed about whether kurita is part of a treaty, but otherwise a functional human being capable of communicating his thoughts clearly and using evidence to back them up.

"Something bigger than you" does not necessarily mean more important than someone's life..

It just means being part of a project, a group, a something that exists thanks to the efforts of more than one person. Or something like that.

You can be part of a reading club, that would be being part of something bigger than you. However, you do not necessarily die for it if the manager says there is not enough money to keep it running

You're wrong. "something bigger than yourself' implies a noble project, one more worthy than your own interests. Something where you sublimate your desires to the group's for a common cause. Sure, you can have that thing be a sports team or the military or volunteering or something, it doesn't have to be earthshatteringly important. it does have to be more important than a completely meaningless set of dots on a map in a videogame where the dots have absolutely no mechanical effect whatsoever on the videogame.

Then, this Star League's interests could be more important to a MWO player than his own gaming interest, and thus be called "something bigger than yourself".

I admit the reading club analogy was pretty stupid, i am not a native english speaker, but i still see some sense in the nSL being "something bigger than ourselves.."

Excellent writing and all, very in character, and noble in spirit, worthy of following (and though I personally like to fight against other IS opponents, just the variety in mechs alone is something I greatly enjoy) it is something I will abide to.

Interesting parliamentary system though. And in true BattleTech style ripe for a horrible civil war. I mean, each planet has 1 vote? A planet with billions has as much voice as one with millions? A technological/industrial/commercial gaint of a world is the same as some backyard scrub of a planet barely maintaining a viable population? Humans being humans that would never work. But it might work long enough to use against the Clans.
