EDIT: Mystere: Yep, pretty much, but the nature of reward multiplier could make some of the smell go away. You don't get flat bonus for doing nothing. You just get reward better if you actually do something. Still kind of a a participation trophy, but then again every compensation is.

I still don't get it why is putting pugs against pugs so horrible idea... why there is so much resistance against this is beyond me..yes..of course..it would need change quite a few parts in CW but it's doable .. it would lure more players into CW, keep them playing and some of them would be converted into hardcore players which could bring much needed new blood into organized units ..it's win-win scenario, yet people are fighting against it..

Why are hardcore players so afraid, they will have to face true resistance in form of another premade? this is really lol-worthy..
You are mistaken. I know I need practice and better teamwork (on my part) to do better in CW or anywhere else in this game. What is LOL worthy is anyone thinking that it cannot improve their game.

So much this.

Let's see, OP, you're FRR if I recall correctly.
/clicks on Faction Inner Sphere sub forum
/clicks on Free Rasalhauge Replubic sub forum
/clicks on 3rd post down, pinned on the forum.

The TeamSpeak address for the FRR is: frrhub.tk:9725
PW: Dragon

That took me less than 3 minutes.
Would you like for me to Google the site to download TeamSpeak from for you?

Well if you won't google it for him I will. http://lmgtfy.com/?q=teamspeak

IF teh match maker sets 2 PUG groups against each other it happens if it pits PUGs against teams that is also perfectly fine by me. I had my only win in CW in a PUG match!

What I think very few people realize is there is NOT a massive imbalance of 12mans to pugs on both sides. It is simply mathematical probability that makes it seem that way for example:

TEAM A: Forces (12man) (12man) (12solo) (12solo)
TEAM B: Forces (12man) (11man+1solo) (12solo) (12solo)

Ok you are on team B.
you as a solo player have a 50% chance every time you drop to play against a 12 man.
you have a .07% chance to be the lucky solo to drop with the 11 man.
when you drop repeatedly into this you start to think OMG its all 12mans over there and we have 0!

meanwhile Team A solos have a 50% chance to catch the 12man or 11+1, and 0% chance to catch their own premade.
all the time team A solos are thinking OMG its all 12mans over there and we have 0!

also the "hardcore unit" thing is pure 100% BS (lots of % in this post) YES there are very high level comp teams. and NO you are not playing against those the majority of the time you run into a 12 man. I am in JFP obviously. we are a GOOD team but not a comp team. we recruit and TRAIN our cadets to be above the average. so yes my unit does require some effort to join. there are however many very casual large units. they will run 12 mans, 11 mans, 10 mans, all the way down to 2 mans. and if you only have time for one game that is FINE. if you only have time for 2 games a week that is FINE. As long as you are patient enough for a group with an open spot to finish the game they are in they will pick you up.

the excuse of "I don't have time to be in a unit" is the most rotten 2 week old taco bell diarrhea stink excuse I have ever heard.

but pug vs premade is driving players away? you don't see it? Really? reading reddit? forum? other games forums? I have yet to find one place, where someone is saying that MWO CW is good in any shape or form.

These players don't need MWO..if CW wont be fun for them, they will leave..however PGI needs these players to survive..and if you want additional content patches for MWO, you need these players too..

It's all about making fair environment inside the GAME..it's not real life..so all comparsions with real wars and events it's complete non-sense..

Its a horrible idea because under no circumstances should a random selection of solo players ever determine the fate of a planet. Solo/pug players(I am one by the way) are there to fill seats and contribute where they can, but ultimately it should be the organized units that determine the outcome. If we want to be anything more than fodder we need to organize instead of complain.

while this is your opinion and I don't really agree with it, I think any casual would be perfectly happy if their actions and games would have very minor or no impact on planets status. So..again..if pug vs pug games would have almost none effect on planet status..it is still horrible idea? or do you have some other reasons why you are against fun?

Because 12-man CW is a team-mode game. Large numbers of PUGs are not a team, they are a mob.

If you split the 12-man CW queue, this will simply result in units being in one queue on a planet and PUGs on another- which in many cases would lead to no match at all.

The proper solution is already in the pipeline- Paul is working on 4v4 modes to add to CW,and this will give PUGs somewhere to play free of the 12-man structure that allows (indeed, it couldn't not if it tried) organized groups to pulp PUG-mobs left and right. Once it's in, we'll have CW 4v4 and CW 12v12, much as we have solo and group pubbie queues.

That will go a LONG way towards un-stressing soloers sick of getting into a mob and wondering why "Old Macdonald" keeps playing instead of the usual music.

Oh I see it. But if CW is billed as "Hard Mode" by the DEVs, which it was, Then anyone without the metal to play there should stay away.

Now those that are bored by its repetition, will still play on occasions like I do. Comparison to "real" war is silly, but real competition and true competitive spirit is another. I have only won a single Match in CW... I like it like that. I do not want that level of competition watered down cause some folk thing they "deserve" a chance at winning. If we drop in CW we HAVE a chance, We just have to take it.

Fun is subjective, and I for one enjoy playing in and around the groups. If pug vs pug had no impact on planets it would appease me so long as I had the option to play in and around the groups like I do now. However, since I am aware fun is subjective I have no doubt a lot of players would not be too thrilled playing in pug vs pug matches if they have no real impact on the outcome. You might enjoy pug vs pug with no relevance to anything else, but are you sure everyone feels that way?

with current systems in CW..yea..it's helpless..however if matchmaking would be retooled, allows players join general group..things could happen..yes..of course.. there would be less games for 12 man groups..its true..but most if not all these game would be actually against another premades..it's not what these hardcore groups want anyway?

While I can't say for sure.. just try it..just put invasion/counter attack mode into quick play, allows players in quick play join faction for LP farming and see what will happen...I am very positive this would lead to complete casual exodus from CW..and this would basically prove, that CW is not played because it's fun..but just because it has new content..

1.) CW designed for units.
2.) Solo and PUG told to move to units or expect a rough time.
3.) Faction chat and VOIP coming
4.) PVE modes and smaller game modes coming(1 vs AI, 4v4, etc)
5.) Community provided tools available for free in the meantime (faction comms)
6.) Faction groups recently added to allow easier grouping
7.) Improvements to both queue and game modes for this working beta

OK so lets ignore all of the above and still have this debate in a complete vacuum so we can pretend we all still have problems that are being ignored. It's no wonder some people self identify as baby seals. How unfortunate it must be for them to feel so helpless.

/sarc on

It couldn't be the mechs they bring, the tactics they use (You mean I can't take my **** mech and stand in this **** spot and win?, I'm going to stand here and let my team push, but when I push why no one saves me?), their lack of preparation, lack of cohesive team play, or their soloist mentality in a team game. Nope it is 100% entirely because the other team is organized and they are not. There is very literally absolutely nothing these baby seals can do to help themselves and PGI is doing nothing to help.

/sarc off

I can answer for sure that not everyone feels that way. You want to know how I can know that? Its pretty simple actually as the answer is that we disagree. I do not want another repeat of group and pug segregation as it hurt the game. I lost the enjoyment of playing against the groups when it happened last time, and a lot of players left because of the draconian grouping rules. I play CW for fun and I would not continue to play it if they did what you suggest as it is counter to everything I want this game to be.

so again...how it would hurt the game if CW would stay exactly same how it is now..but players would have just another option, how and where to play new content? same minded players would stay in CW while players, who enjoys new maps and modes but like more balanced approach via elo and matchmaking would have their own playfield.. how this would affect you?

Having the CW maps available in the normal queue makes it easier for some players to never set foot in actual CW for whatever reason they may have be it fear, lack of motivation to actually participate, or whatever other reason they may have. Part of the incentive to play CW is to play the new content, and if they want to play the new content they need to play in CW be it as a solo player or in a group. If you just want to do some normal drops and make some c-bills then the other game modes and maps are where you go. CW on the other hand is where you go when you can dedicate time and effort playing the new content.

I will also add even if they did add the modes to the normal queue those players should not be earning LP as they are not actually participating in faction content.
