I'll stick with my 12 sml-p lasers, PARTY NOVA FTW!!
Though I can't deny my play style would be basically the same.

well i came up with another kinda interesting one which is a modified NVA-S:

6x medium pulse lasers
3x ER Small lasers
Clan active Probe

essentially just put the pulse lasers all into one arm for a lethal burst of more centralised damage, more of a hit and run mech popping that massive burst out and getting behind some cover to cool off quickly, can replace the probe with a heat sink but with all these ECMs going around the probe can be helpful, and youd be surprised how useful a quick 48 damage pulse can can be.

yeah i am disappointed it is not the assault nova , the Nova here is rubbish. it combines all the worst traits you get in a mech, too light pod space, weapons points too easily removed ( arms ) , too slow to run away , not fast enough to chase. Too lightly armoured to brawl, low weapon points prevent snipering , rubbish quirks.

leveling up has been a real chore

How many times do I have to say this, 12 small pulse lasers=72 dmg alpha=good.
Party Nova FTW!!

MW4, the most ugly supernova ever created. Its so blocky and ugly, while the real supernova is like a sporty and curvey sexy mech.

if you have the new A variant you can do a sniper, sorta, with putting ERPPCs in each of the side torsos and loading up DHS. You have two nice shield arms

yeah.............if..............

(non-Mod mode) Believe I've had very good results with 6xCERML, 3 in each arm and 4xMG's... split the ML's on your left and right triggers and all MG's on trigger 3...

still decent damage output and with a TC you get a decent range increase... have a vid from a while back somewhere (will find a link) in which those 4xMG's where all that was left to me at the end of a Drop and managed to get 2 kills with just those... yeah, LUCKY... but still...

she's squishy, but love my Nova's...

10 Small pulse lasers, DHS... win!

Hated these when they initially dropped despite wanting to like it and didn't get them to elite until the double XP weekend from a few weekends ago. Since then, the Prime has been one of my most frequently played mechs. Its tricky to use since you're limited on range but play smart and be sneaky and you can obliterate anything.

That 60 point alpha is just great for when you find your way to an assaults back and with a short laser duration you can rip legs off lights pretty easily. But again, you can't go head to head against anything too big because you just can't tank much damage.

Another build I enjoyed was 10 ERMLas, which is a hotter, longer range version of the small pulse build. Its fun but the lasers burn longer and its trickier when an enemy gets in your face.

My favorite Nova build is the S with 2 LPLs and 4 SLs, their burn duration cynergises very we'll. Also, sense Clan LPL have 1K plus range, you can even poke people from long range.

This build, thanks to the LPL and SL almost identical burn time, you really do not have to worry so much about Light mechs thanks to the fact that they have good hit detection so just aim for the leg with a half decent aim and watch their armor melt.

I've gone back to the 10 small pulse laser setup and just exercise extreme discipline. Not for the manic alpha mechwarrior.
However in trained hands...its extraordinarily lethal

It's a fun mech, you can get 3 alphas off on the hottest maps easily and it still cools fairly quick sense it's crammed full of heat sinks.

Also, a word of warning, just because I said you don't have to worry about Lights as much does not mean you don't have to worry about them at all, as a Light mech can still put the hurt on you, but, usually one good shot in the leg, which is easy compared to other weapons, will usually strip their leg armor off or almost off, at which point they usually run away in the hopes of finding easier targets.

Do you put all the weapons in the arms, split symmetrically or do you put the LPLas in the torsos?

I don't have reinforcement pack omnipods so I'd have everything in the arms, but I could see some added value to having the big guns in the torsos.
