This stuff IS really interesting... I played a few matches of CW when it very first came out... but the wait times, the horrible graphical lag pushed me away from it... Like, 2 days ago I gave it another try... it's pretty awesome n.n Except when a wave of 12 Fenris roll in and curb stomp... but.... eh, at least it's over quickly :P

I like a lot of your suggestions. And I agree with probably 95% of them personally. I really appreciate that you, and your cited member posts have put so much thought, and effort into it.

But, I really would like to see a way to play with both Clan, and IS mechs. I never cared before I bought my Wave 3... but I really wanna roll CW in my Ebon Jaguar, and Shadowcat :P

SOME clan tech did get disseminated during the early months/years. Wolf's Dragoons handed out a handful of Dire Wolves (Most notably Prometheus, to Victor Davion) But, since none of us are crowned princes of a House...

You mentioned adding in the Canon merc units. They did have a bit more clan tech per capita than the houses. Several times they included salvage rights in their contracts. If nothing else, Wolf's Dragoons had access to some clan tech, and could manufacture it to some degree.

I'd really like to see SOME means of accomodating those of us who have IS, and Clan interests. Even if we have to make a pirate faction... BTW: We totally need to have some pirate factions. It's admittedly unlikely they'd have an orbital cannon... but, they would have the most justifiably random assortment of machines...

Or, just allow dual citizenship to one level or another.

I would be perfectly happy, though, if we could bring the game mode over to regular pug matches, without the trappings, limitations and ramifications of Community Warfare. That would be enough for me, I think.

you had me until you said IS tech only.
Merc can and do get their hands on clan tech.
hell even Suzy 'one eyed' Ryan the pirate queen has a lance of clan mechs(seen in ghost of winter) so if pirates can get their hands on a Timber Wolf, Adder, Kit Fox, and Mist Lynx then Mercs can get their hands on clan mechs as well.

also even though Clan mechs are 'rare' in the 50s doesn't mean they cannot get one or more.
the only reasons most Mercs sold their Clan tech was because they couldn't up keep the machines.

Yes, IS Mercs can get their hands on Clantech. So can the IS in general. I imagine that later in this game as the timeline progresses we will have access to mixed tech. But I think it would be more appropriate to leave mixed tech off the table until AFTER the Clan Invasion.

I liked your suggestions up to the mention of penalties, we're Mercs, not House Troops, we do a contract, get paid, then move on to the next contract regardless of whether or not it's with the same House. That's why the Mercenary Review Board exists to ensure Houses aren't abusing the system, which refusing to pay the full amount stipulated in the contract would be without clear and evident proof that there was a breach of said contract by the Mercenaries.

AND it's totally cannon for Merc units to swap House units mid contract in some cases, most notably the Northwind Highlanders who relatively recently canceled their decades long contract with the Cappies in favor of the Feddies during the Fourth Succession War. Then of course there's Wolf's Dragoons who served each House at some point since their appearance in 3005 and are still highly valued even by those filthy Dracs who tried to destroy them not too long ago in 3028.
