I'm fully aware... which is what makes said surge seem rather... strained.

Then again, I'll probably have no idea on the situation within another 12 hours due to the contract I have.

It's not that FRR isn't trying, but something in the resource allocation or front is making bad decisions. That's just how I feel about that.

I'd say it's a combination of things:
  • The attack algorithm is borked. CJF is bouncing out towards Tsarahavana toward the Anti-Spinward edge of Steiner, which is the opposite direction of where they want to be going (Terra). CSJ is being shoved out spinward and away from Terra. CGB is being push across CW and CJF AND the FRR rather than towards Terra (through Kurita, lore-wise). CW is being cut off and can only go through CJF and, again, away from Terra. Likewise, Steiner can attack Marik back, but it seems to alternate between the worlds that Marik took from us and worlds far, far away, creating a weird, lopsided counterattack (that we don't have the population for anyways).
  • The merc system, while probably a blast for mercs, punishes loyalist units.
  • Ghost drops are a thing that happens and is rewarded.

i would have to say that PGI's reward system is fine. A single solo que drop at the most takes 15 min usually a little less 10 or so on average. you can earn around 200,000 c-bills per match meaning you can get around 600,000 c-bills in 30 min (all with premium time) where as in CW you play for 30 min on average maybe less for normal attack and can get 500,000 or more ( with premium time). As far as c-bill earnings go it is about even. Then you get drop ship mode in CW you can use 4 mechs in one drop regardless of group/ unit weight, so if you feel like dropping in your timber and 3 others are already in one.... there you go. And lets not forget faction loyalty rewards, which give you free mechbays, cockpit items, and additional c-bills,GXP, and MC. but you want more...
If there is a player imbalance it is the communities fault and all pgi can do is say hey, come over here we can throw you some extra LP and C-bills, but the point of this is to show a lack of players in this area. Steiner and davion have NO lack of players... and The FRR clearly need more players. Cant say much about jade falcon besides they where like the 2nd smallest clan population at one time...

One of the reasons I play clans is that they seem to be the only factions that have a tangible "goal;" liberate Terra. The Houses just sort of exist and have pissing matches with each other.

Having said that, the algorithm is weird. Except for the FRR, why are the clans being forced to conquer so much house territory? Like seriously, what is going on with the DC? Let the clans push to Terra, with a little bit of a buffer zone on the line down. Once that happens, it will be a storm of fury to push them back, as all the Houses will be able to dogpile on the clans instead of just the North houses.

To the Lyran's: I don't think the North houses losing planets to clans on their way to Terra should be a reason to increase rewards (FRR being the exception as they could well disappear), so that's probably why the Lyran Commonwealth aren't getting bonuses; they have a healthy population and besides a bruised ego, are not in any danger of being wiped out.

Exactly. As a Steiner? I'd almost be willing to give one of the Clans a (narrow) uncontested corridor to Terra. Maybe CJF, then Steiner would only have two borders: CJF and Marik.

that is actually what we want too. I get the distinct feeling that our (CJF) goal is not actually Terra but Tharkad instead based on how many times the algorithm keeps trying to send us west.

Really? I know some long term Steiner and Davion players that would beg to differ, along with a whole lot of map data.

Thought FRR had that bonus already.
Bonuses do not seem to motivate people much though.
