1. Drop in the solo queue.

2. Check how many players on each team are lone wolves, vs part of an established Unit.

3. If you are part of the team with the most Unit players, celebrate, you are going to win the match. Your objective is now to get as many kills and inflict as much damage as you can in the less than 5 minutes it will take for your team to win the battle.

4. If you are part of the team with the most Lone Wolves, curse quietly to yourself for a moment about the inevitable upcoming loss. Disable your strikes, because there's no point wasting them on a match in which you won't recoup their cost. Then resolve to do as much damage as you can in the few minutes that the match will last - there is no point achieving optimum positioning, trying to use of cover, etc, as none of that will save you from the 10 v 1 fight you will be facing in in a few minutes time. (You can calculate your window of opportunity by estimating the time it will take for the bulk of your team to walk dead straight into the oncoming enemy guns.)

5. Graciously accept the loss or win, as predetermined by the rules of Puglotto listed above. Console yourself that there was nothing more you could have done - because frankly, there wasn't.

6. Offer encouragement and tactical tips to the few players on your team whose scores exceeded their pings.

7. Repeat from Point 1 above, hoping it will be your turn to win Puglotto this match.

:)

I know the feeling, especially when the lottery gods are not in your favor... But, unit tags are not the same as good pugwarriors... A good lot of them have no clue what to do when none gives or listens to directions.

I have the same feeling as you though, but I usually count the number of scr, timbers, dwf, thunder's and fs9... But you never know, there is always the remote chance that the other team is even worse... :)

I still remember those open or closed rooms in mw3 site, and still don't understand why we cannot have that thing in mwo....

PUGs and groups do not drop in the same queue.

Having a Clan-tag in front of your name is no guarantee for a good player. ^^
Especially in PUGs.

Rather than unit tags, I prefer to check how many players have the Founder badges. No reason why, just because....

True. But in my extensive testing over the past two weeks (more than 100 drops in the solo queue) the correlation between "Most Lone Wolves" and "Going to Lose" has been very very strong.

Interestingly, those matches where these is an equal number of Lone Wolves - which you might think would be closer outcomes - tend also to be mostly stomps for one team. This could be because of the quality (or lack thereof) of some of the unit players, or that some PUGs are better than others.

OP definently got rolled lol.

He was so upset he went in the forums, started a thread about how he got rolled, and threw in a bunch of frustrated ranting that is dribble (#3. Really?!? So I guess I'm a terrible player because I don't have a unit tag. Huh).

I'm glad you vented for your own sake anyway, hope it was all worth it lol.

I didn't say that. I said that a team with more Unit players will almost always beat a team with less unit players.

It wasn't a rant either due to being rolled, because sometimes I get to be on the team with the most unit-aligned players. I tried to make it humorous.

Either way, it was based on my observations over the course of 100 games.

Let me know if I need to explain it again more slowly for you.

OP got rolled badly it seems.
Oh and some of the most horrid players I have ever seen were wearing unit tags & some of the best wear none.

Lol. You are mad.

If PUGlandia gets you that worked up, stick to group drops. Its better for your health.

I'm not worked up at all.

But I agree I tend to have more fun in the group queue playing with friends.

Well, that didn't come over like a rant, more like a fun post. So, where's the problem?

My experience with PUG matches is, that the outcome is totally random.
I can't deny that the team with more faction/unit/badge players tends to perform better, but I've also experienced the opposite.

What really makes a difference is how the team communicates.
The team splitting up into 3-4 groups, scattered all over the place, can be the beginning of the end.
So can be a team which tries to set a new cuddling record, affraid to move an inch.

I guess it all comes down to this: carry harder :D

While unit tags can be an indicator, it's not unusual the team with a clear majority of unit tags lose. The more accurate way to see whether matchmaker gave you the team that are clearly lower in Elo is if you have 2 or more trial mechs. Then yeah you're the team made up to lose badly, and no wonder since you're almost playing 10 vs 12 or worse.

If the PUG life is too hardcore for you then the exits are clearly marked.

@OP

*making a serious Morpheus face*
What if I told you I (unitless) had a game with mostly other unitless/soloing people in the team vs. a team having 7 of the same unit. And we roflstomped them.

The tendency of organized players being more organized is true (obviously), but not as a definite 100-0 rule like you describe, but more as a (my perception) 60-40 tendency.

Any unitless / soloing player that has a problem with this just simply needs to join a unit and stop soloing.
Soloing is always a random chance thing. You can end up in the winning team or in the losing team, you know. And one alone mostly won't define the outcome of the game alone.

Reading and comprehending at the same time can be hard, I know. I will just have to console myself with the thought that if you'd understood my post, you probably wouldn't have responded at all.
