Are two monitors like a thing now?

Using two monitors has been a thing for a while, not specifically restricted to MWO. Many people use 2 monitors for multitasking, dual-window working, and even a combination of working and distraction/entertainment. Having 2 monitors allows an increased work space without needing to clutter up a single monitor, or buy an extremely large one and allows for having 2 work areas of standard resolution available. Its useful for artists to be able to keep a reference image and other work materials on one, while the program they're using to create/paint/draw/model on the other without de-focusing it.

Tri-monitor setups have become the newer thing for gaming though, as even with a bezel the centered aspect on a middle monitor keep your center view unobstructed. Previously a dual monitor setup like that would split the 'center' in the bezel and provide for less than optimal gaming setups. The tri monitor setup (or more, yeah, I've seen like 6 before, its crazy awesome) also provides a unique experience in MWO or other simulator style games, allowing you to angle the monitors in a way that mimics the front and side windows of your cockpit. (in some flight sims I've seen people use a 4th above the center and angle down toward the player to simulate the front/upper view, or 6 to simulate a full blown upper/forward/side canopy effect, though its a bit unwieldy and creates gaps)

Think of the 1/3 on each side of that screen being angled to your left and right though, it would look so glorious.

OH GOD, NO...Now if I ever come into the disposable money, I want to get 3 massive monitors without bezels between them and angle 2 to my sides. HNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGG...

I need 1 more 20 inch monitor to even things out. So far I have spent 30 dollars at goodwill to get 1 monitor and found the other sitting on the side of the street. Triple monitor with the sides bent in for under 100 bucks? I'll take all the damn bezel all day. Don't even notice it.

It has been "a thing" for a while now. It isn't "the thing", however.

That said, a second monitor is a nice low end luxury addition to your computer, especially if you want to reference two things back and forth without swapping between them or forcing them to share space on a single screen. First time I used a 2 screen setup was when I was doing an analyst job in the Army, it was very convenient to have reference material open on one screen while typing up a report on the other.

I regular use multiple monitors to keep things sorted. It helps when doing research in my grad courses to have a pdf open on one side and lexus nexus open on the other.

I would like to have the in-game map open on 2nd screen, used to do that in World in Conflict years ago, was great.. Can't figure out how to set it up on this game though, so usually just music/movies,teamspeak etc, or these forums if bored enough while waiting for CW drops.

I bought a 27" 2560 x 1440 native resolution monitor so I wouldn't need two screens.

I'm thinking of buying an even wider one - a 34" 3440 x 1440 native resolution. (http://www.lg.com/uk/ultrawide/UM95.m)

I'd probably run MWO windowed and leave some space either side for TeamSpeak and a web browser.

Wish I could have the battlegrid open on my second monitor. Now it's usually smurfy or some forum.

I currently run three monitors. Right side has forums, steam, skype and system monitoring up. I just rebuilt my system and I'm over clocking so I am tweaking speed/voltage to find a decent OC balance. Third monitor usually has something streaming either from youtube, twitch or netflix. I often switch the third monitor over to the PS4 to do videos if I have headphones on for the game.

It would be best I think during gameplay to have the smurfy map up of the map you're currently playing, for quick reference.

Same monitor and I run a second laptop for teamspeak and trolling.
