I'm in the UK, my internet runs at 152Mbps and everything is fine apart from the MWO server.
Yep, support ticket sent...
'Sigh...'
Apart from that there's all the other bullsh!t like too much grind, the bugs, UI 2.0, crazy decisions made previously..HIT-REG etc etc.. and it's just a bit too much when you've handed over $500 in the past year.
So... I'll be reading more books I guess and at least trying to stay away from this game for a while. Probably healthier anyway.
I just thought I would make a quick post so that, apart from the usual trolling, maybe some others who feel that they are a bit close to their limit can simply express it and let it register with PGI. Constructive comments would be great; I think PGI tends to see their customers as data sets and therefore is fairly blinkered at times, plus you get a lot of weird players going on about random things which aren't realistic and this creates a lot of fog which is almost impossible for Russ and Co to cut through.
So I'm thinking.. what if we talk about the kind of issues that make us think of leaving MWO for good, in a constructive way and see what comes out of it?
For me.. it's crappy hit-reg, the lag etc I get and the rewards being too low for high match score/damage players on losing teams (we could talk about some of these as whole different posts, I know but...)

The servers at PGI aren't the best for sure.
I find the game to be more then playable though.

Trace complete.
Also to note that if you tracert you will probably find a few hops that time out. That 6th hop has been timing out since the server move, so like 5 months or so by now. There is nothing that can be done about that besides move or try a different ISP. Which is what I am going to do at some point. Though there is zero guarantees that I will get a better route if I change.
I imagine you probably have a similar issue too.

Because I'm "playing for fun" I don't even but a mech until a sale comes along and then I can buy several mechs instead of just a couple.
Regarding the lag, that's another story the other guys are talking about. I understand that with lag the game is not fun.
If you do take a break check back every so often, you'll be welcome back

The "grind" as it were drops off after you have mastered a chassis or two, next thing you know you have hoards of mechs and too many options to think straight!

Been playing wifi for years now. Using PCI-E network card in my desktop. Typically have about 30-50 ping. I was getting 9-15 LAN and 20-30 wifi when I lived in Toronto, Ontario. Wifi makes no real difference, distance to the source makes a much bigger difference. It does suck that those outside of NA suffer from bad ping, but unless the game becomes really popular or something, I don't see them placing servers outside of NA.

For others in Europe having issues with lag, if your traces hit that same bad spot, there's nothing to be done by PGI to help you out, that's an entirely out of their hands deal.
*edit*
Just ran a series of tracert to the IP given by Ghogiel, 192.99.109.129 and I'm ending up in Europe every time, not to mention the ping is well over 150. What exactly are you using for an IP there Ghogiel, because I know my ping to the MWO servers are under half of what I'm getting to that IP, and I'm pretty sure the MWO servers aren't in Europe....

Can people really contact random ISPs? It's hard enough getting customer support when you are actually a customer with mine. Anyone tried hassling random foreign ISPs, did it work?

Fwiw I get solid 100-110 ping with BT, no issues with routing at all (from west yorkshire).

PGI has done their fair share of hassling, and I think it's paid off for a number of ISPs. You might want to open a ticket with the traceroutes and see if ... I think it's Alex who hunts them down.

I have done this in the past. They fobbed me off and told me they have nothing to do with other ISPs and I needed to contact my ISP about it.

granted my AP is about 15 feet from my PC in the same room, lol.
I just don't have a good way to run cat6 through my place
I just finished installing Cat6 basement to 2nd floor, it's in 2 inch PVC behind the walls and up the floors, next time I just tape it off and pull it through.
WiFi is for bedtime.
